Money well spent. Glad to see Telvin get that fetti
Well deserved for Telvin. Doesn't ARob have his own thread?
You’re right. Edited my post

Yes, and it was diverted to Telvin when people started talking about contracts.
I'd go ahead and extend A-Rob now while your leverage is high. Problem is, he is more than happy to play under the tag, as it would be a nice raise and likely more than he would get in the first year of a long-term deal. I wonder if they will front load some on the money into this year for Telvin like they did with Linder. Will be interesting to see the details. The Jags are actually in a pretty good cap situation still, especially if they rid themselves of Hurns and Ivory. I'd love to bring back Colvin, even if it is an overpay. I don't think Lee will command much on the open market, so it's possible he is brought back as well. An interesting one to keep an eye on will be Omameh, as he's a UFA this offseason as well.

A-Rob isn't going to agree to any deal right now, unless it's not factoring in his ACL injury. Realistically, he'll want either the franchise tag or a prove-it deal, so he can show he's back from his injury and land a big time contract.

Yeah, I've said as much. He and his agent may want the security of s longer term deal though, especially coming off an ACL injury and a history of missing significant time as well. I'd jump on a deal around 5yrs 55 mil if I'm A-Rob.

I would too, but about two months ago he wanted to be paid like Julio, Hopkins, and Dez. I don't think that changes even with his ACL injury. Plus who knows if we'd even offer him that type of deal right now.

I don't think his value is anywhere near that level, especially with the ACL. I think he ends up disappointed, but who knows, some desperate team may overpay.

That's why I think he'll sign a one year deal to try and cash in during 2019 free agency. Plus as you said, sometimes teams are desperate.

Glad Telvin got paid we dont wanna loss him, Poz might be gone tho

This probably means we won't go after one of the premier free agent QB's, but that's fine with me. I want to draft one anyway. Keeping Telvin and watching the progression of Myles Jack, gives us two of the most athletic young linebackers in the league.

What does re-signing a LB, have to do with us signing a QB?

I much rather sign a QB and draft one

Less money for the cap. If we were to go after someone like Kirk Cousins, we'd likely have to sacrifice Smith and ARob, since Cousins would likely demand the highest salary in the NFL. The same goes for Drew Brees, just on a much shorter contract. It doesn't completely take us out of the race for a free agent QB, just probably the top 2 guys. We'd definitely still be in the Alex Smith, Jimmy Garrappolo and Sam Bradford sweepstakes though.

Allen Robinson actually was very good in his rookie season between injuries. Few WRs anywhere were better than him at catching 50/50 balls. He was expected to be his old self, but almost immediately lost the chance to do it. Tagging Robinson may be the only way to keep him in Jacksonville.

That was a long time ago. He's done nothing since. Let him walk, unless he takes a reasonable contract. No need to waste money by overpaying him via the Franchise tag.

He hasn't been for a while. He's been unreliable and now he's injured.

I disagree. If we were to sign a new QB we would get rid of Blakes 19 mil, which would negate almost the entire salary of a replacement QB and you could make up the difference by cutting Ivory. Our cap situation remains stable, the F.O has done a nice job.

People forget how good A-Rob was looking this training camp and preseason. Absolutely working folks.

Laughing Cmon man, Hurns is a nice player and all, but he's not on par with the top guys in the league. He doesn't win on enough routes or get consistent separation. He's above average in the slot, other than that just a guy.

I was factoring in negating Blake's $19 million, but we have other players who will need to be signed as well and we still need to find a viable run stuffing DT and a WR.

Training camp and preseason mean nothing. Lots of players look good in training camp and preseason then when the season comes, they disappear. The only thing that matters is actual games that count and ARob has been a huge disappointment lately. Now, he's coming back from an injury and most receivers don't make a major impact right away after tearing an ACL. He'll likely have a sub par season in 2018, because most WR's do after such an injury.

I never said he was on par with the top guys. He's a solid #2 WR, but I still believe he is much better than Lee and given what ARob has done lately and now the injury, I stand pat. I'd rather keep Hurns over those guys and look for another true #1.

Fifty million dollars in four years . . . Is that in the $12 million range you suggested?

It's coming out now as 4 years $44mil so $11 per year.

I said between $10-12 so yeah I was pretty spot on.

Now we can tag ARob

I don't see us tagging ARob.  That would be overpaying him IMO.  I'm not saying he's not good, but I see us signing him to a low WR1 or high WR2 type of contract.
Very happy for Telvin and the team keeping him long-term. Smile

If Allen Robinson wants to be overpaid, he would try to do it now unless we tag him.
We're going off the rails here guys....
Congratulations to you Telvin.
We're all proud of you!
Perfect. He's a leader on this team and he's improved every single year as a player.
