Like I said before, you have to watch Devante Adams play with Brett Hundley to know how dependent he is on Aaron Rodgers to succeed.

This is a fair deal. I am glad we got this out of the way now. If it was the offseason I could see it being a 4 year 55 to 60 mil deal. So we potentially saved some money in the long run.

That is a good point. Teams would already be lining up to overpay him if we put it off.

Lets see how well Adams does with Hundley. He had 2 catches for 12 yards against the Saints......

A-Rob isn't going to agree to any deal right now, unless it's not factoring in his ACL injury. Realistically, he'll want either the franchise tag or a prove-it deal, so he can show he's back from his injury and land a big time contract.

Teams will probably be a little hesitant to pay ARob top dollar off the ACL, so we may be able to use the transition tag. This at least gives the Jaguars a chance to match any offer ARob gets, and I don't see any team going too far out of their way to create a contract the Jaguars won't match. If they do, we move on, but I bet we're able to keep him at the top 10 rate for the season instead of the top 5 rate. Realistically ARob is a borderline top 10 WR in this league, so the transition rate makes more sense while giving him a nice one-year prove-it deal.

The jags will have ample time to get a look at a Rob and see how he is progressing since the ACL before any other team has a chance to even talk to him. I assume if they think he comes back 100% that they're gonna slap the franchise tag on him. It really does make the most sense to me. 

A team desperate for a wide out could offer Robinson some crazy deal that we wouldn't be able to match OR that we shouldn't match and then criticized for even putting the team in that position.

The transition rate is not that much different from franchise tag rate.  15 million for franchise tag, 13 million for transition tag.   If we really want to keep him, the extra 2 million isn't that much to pay for the certainty.

The transition tag is much higher than a prove-it deal. Our offer for Alex Mack was $42 million over four seasons IIRC. That averages out to over $10 million annually, right?

Now I am confused. Doesn't transition tag mean a team can offer anything it wants and all we have to do is match it?
