No he is not smart!! Any qb with a good football would know on 3rd and short if its not there, run.. Blake just doesnt know.. But look at who is learning from.. Gus, Chad, Olsen and Hackett... He just isnt smart and his inaccuracy makes things worst
Quote:That's a huge factor here. The non-existent running game puts more pressure on an already struggling QB.
Green Bay, Minnesota, and Tampa Bay have been showing people this season it is hard to win with third and fourth string RBs even if you have a good QB.
Quote:How many pick sixes has he thrown this year compared to last year?
He's definitely learned something.
I only remember the one against Carolina last year, but he probably had another one.
None so far this season, fortunately.
Quote:Methinks you are just making things up for the sake of making them up. Blake scored a 28 (average QB is 24). 28 is the same as Russell Wilson and higher than Carson Palmer. Vince scored a 16.
It was widely reported at the time Vince Young's Wonderlic score was 4.
I also read Dan Martin dropped to #27 because of his score.
Quote:It was a terrible throw. If it was in the back corner it would have been a TD. Sure there were better options, but we needed points.
If Blake threw the ball to the back corner a different Raider would have intercepted it. He should have thrown it the opposite direction.

I guess we'll have to get him a better football....
Quote:The well-discussed mechanical issues with Bortles could still prove fixable, given the right coaching.
But is there a deeper problem here - his seeming inability to learn from his mistakes? His size and athleticism have got him this far and I accept he might never be the intelligent "surgeon" quarterback who out-thinks the opposition, but I think by now we should expect him not to repeat the same errors, over and over. It makes me question if the mental side of his game has developed as fully as it should.
And if not, is that down to bad coaching and bad schemes or a basic inability to learn?
Man I'm having mechanical issues at the moment. It's no easy fix.
Very stressful
..
Blake was off target the majority of the time he threw to at 15 last year.
He'd have to stop his route and leap to snag the ball.
He was fairly accurate to burns.
Even hitting him in stride a few times.
He was also fairly accurate hitting the white guy ..( what's his name)? Lol in stride..this year he is seemingly ALWAYS off target regardless of who he's throwing to.
Bad aim...
Not looking the part.
At all
He got lucky a lot last year on horribly thrown jump balls
Bucky Brooks wrote about this in a "Scout's Notebook" article. Read this part:
What's wrong with the Jaguars' franchise quarterback?
http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap3000000...-criticism
Below that is an interesting section about the four OC changes already made this season and how making those changes help teams, including the Jaguars.
Edit: Let me know if this post belongs in a different thread.
Quote:Further goes to show how useless the wonderlic is. Vince spent 35 million dollars and went bankrupt, if only in part because he was spending 10 grand a pop at the cheesecake factory multiple nights per week, you know, the place with the $7 appetizers. He took a loan out for around a million bucks to cover his birthday party expenses during the 2011 lockout.
Blake is dumb. He's not Vince Young status though.
Wow. Your wonderlic would be even lower.
Are there negative scores? That would be pretty fitting for you.

Haha. Did I strike a drunk nerve at 240 am? Pretty shmucky of ya, guy. What I wrote actually happened too. PM me a heartfelt apology and I'll consider taking down your embarrassing and useless drunk drivel.
Bortles hopefully gets right tomorrow.
Quote:Goodness I can think of a ton. Especially the one picked in the end zone against Oakland
ironically enough that was one of his better throws of the year. That play happened just a few feet from where I sit and the placement on it was pretty. Unfortunately you're right and he made a horrible decsion before the ball was even snapped. He was going there regardless if it were single coverage or all 11 guys. No way should Lee be the receiver on that route and I believe that if it were Robinson or Thomas it wouldn't have been picked. But yeah that was a bad decsion but hardly a ton and no qb ever has played a bad decsion free season it's just that were killing Bortles right now because of how bad he's been.

Except for the fact that Bortles didn't actually score less than Vince Young.
Maybe you should fact check before going along with what some idiot posts.
I'd rather look like a schmuck than actually be one.
Good job schmuck.
Smartness has nothing to do with his struggles, people stop making dumb crap up

Smartness is not a word, so you just made up your own dumb crap.
Quote:I have to agree here. He hasn't made many head scratching decisions this year. A couple of poorly placed balls which would have been great had they been thrown better. But nothing really horrible decision wise
The only real bone head decision I can recall is the triple coverage interception in Oakland.
Quote:It was a terrible throw. If it was in the back corner it would have been a td. Sure there were better options, but we needed points.
I have to disagree here, he didn't have to force it. It was 6-0. 3 points would have been just dandy. This is why I question his decision making. A touchdown would have been preferred, but a first down would have given us additional chances, an incomplete would have given us a chip shot.

Every QB makes a bad decision from time to time.
Bortles' main problem this year hasn't been his decision making. It's been his execution.

If we got on a first down on that play there would be no need to kick it on fourth down.
