Quote:Bortles has too meek of a personality to be successful in this league IMO.  3 years in the league and he' still skittish in interviews.  The QB position requires big-time leadership.  I hope I'm completely wrong.

lol at all these people just guessing. First he's an alcoholic, now he's meek. Yeah because Tom Brady, Joe Montana, and Russell Wilson aren't introverted and beat their chests.
Leadership does not equal being outgoing/extroverted and beating your chest.  It means that men follow you and rise above the occasion.  It that under pressure you perform  Bortles is not doing that.

What the hell is that. Bench this clown. lol
Makes you wonder why the guy that's so connected with all things Bortles wasn't the one that broke this news on here...
So a struggling young quarterback is getting some help and somehow it's an "issue"?

Can't hurt, but not too optimistic either. Even if his mechanics get back to the signicantly-better-but-still-bad mechanics from last year he has a long way to go in many other aspects of quarterbacking.

As much work as he has to do to get back to last years level, he has to do that much more on top of that to get to the level of a real franchise QB.

Man I hate high drafted players.....they have a sense arrogance, entitlement and "I've made it"......what they don't realize they're starting all over.

The game is faster, the opponents are bigger and faster.....and there's these guys called line backers that are trying to kill you.

It's great to have all those passing yards and completions but, they have to be at the right time.

I do ope he shows improvement over the balance of the season and the team "reconnects " with each other......but i have a nagging feeling that we're going to finish worse than last year.

Things will really hit the fan then. Khan's gonna kick some serious butt.

I wonder if our new OC can Hackett?

I'll just leave. But before i do :

I don't think this will make any difference. Once the pressure is back on in a real game situation, mechanics will go wonky again. Good to see Bortles trying though, and he better spend all offseason working on it, and every offseason afterwards.

He wasn't stalking him at Jax beach that night...
The only chance the Jaguars have to win 4 or more games in the 2nd half of the season is if Blake Bortles turns things around.   From my point of view,  there's no downside to Bortles working with an outside QB Coach.   In looking at the situation from the standpoint of a fan of the Jaguars opponent later this month,   this opens the door for the possibility of Bortles making major strides forward soon.    I'm not saying it's going to happen but now it's more than a remote possibility.

Quote:I don't think much will come of it this year, but with next year being his 4th year and him having seen how great Carr and these rookies are performing, I think we see the best Bortles has to offer next year.
Actually, it's possible we may have already seen the best Bortles has to offer last season.

Bortles is anything but arrogant or entitled. He got along with George O'Leary who's about as old school as they come. If this team DOES hire Tom Coughlin, you can expect Coughlin and Jalen Ramsey to clash. Coughlin is not an enabler like Jimbo Fisher is....Ramsey will not want to play for Coughlin. It's a real problem for a 70 year old to relate to today's entitled youth.

Whatever gives the usual suspects grist for the complaint mill....

Will give him credit, he is trying.

that's great... could have been more useful during the offseason.  but better late than never i guess.

The seats behind him look empty. I'm pretty sure this is pregame and he is stretching. Who knows though.

The picture reveals the problem. No tongue pointing the way.

This pic reminds me of a SpongeBob episode where Squidward was falling to the ground and his arms were flailing around.
