Quote:Bortles is inaccurate because he's late on making reads but he's also late on his delivery because it's too long. If he was late making reads but could make up for it with a quick release, he could become more accurate.

True, that's what I was wondering. I'm also kinda worried that were already talking about hoping he gets his mechanics down in the offseason and seeing what he has next season because if he looks this bad next season then it's pretty much another terrible season already.

"There was a noticeable difference in the way Bortles threw the ball during the 20-minute period when the media was allowed to watch Thursday's practice. Bortles held the ball at his shoulder and his delivery was quicker"

Well, that's good to hear. I always knew it was challenging to change bad mechanics, but i had no idea it was to THIS hard. An article with quotes from his QB coach in college (saw it on twitter I think?) said they're worse now than at any time he's ever known Blake. I wonder why that is? Not being sarcastic about coaching, etc, but really wondering why they've deteriorated to this degree. Odd.

That's great that his mechanics already show improvement in practice and all, but they raved about how much better Tebow's mechanics looked during practice every offseason too.

When you have less than 2.5 seconds drop back, find a player where less than a yard of separation is considered open, and perform your new throwing motion or a 300 lb man is going to try to kill you, history has shown time and again that your body reverts back to the previous ~15 years of throwing and what got you to the show in the fist place rather than the adjustments you've been trying to make over the last few months (or merely a few days in Blake's case).

I said the same the other day. I watched a YouTube video from his UCF days out of curiosity - they're worse now than they've ever been.

The UCF line was better.

The line has nothing to do with his bad mechanics.

What this says to me is that Blake is thinking WAY too much about his mechanics. I can only equate it to back when I was playing volleyball competitively.

I tried refining my approach and swing as a sophomore in college per my coaches instructions and it meased me all up. A big part of that was because every time I got set, I was so focused on doing what my coaches wanted me to that I was routinely hitting into blocks or out of bounds (especially out of bounds...lol) as opposed to over or around blocks into open court like I was before. Having a 39" vertical leap helped with that bit...haha.

In my case, I eventually gave up being a front row player entirely and focused on defense...which I was better at anyway.
Didn't he hit JT in stride this year for a TD. I remember the one really nice pass this season
He needs to trust himself and just throw like he knows how to, he got qll the way to the pros doing it that way, why change now
