Quote:One thing Gus has established with us as a fan base is his integrity. He'll keep things from us from a competitive standpoint, but he doesn't lie to us. Gus clearly had no plans to fire Olson a few days ago suggesting this is a more recent decision. I'm guessing the conversation was about the need to run the ball more because Blake is having issues, for whatever reason, throwing the ball. Then they looked at Olson and realized he's not the guy to get this team running, and at that point they knew what they had to do.

It also may have been prompted by Khan telling them, "Whoever you decide, someone has to answer for this."
Could have been Caldwell too..Caldwell hired him(Gus) so I believe it will be Caldwell who fires him...It may come from Shad Khan but I think Caldwell will do the firing
What does Chad Henne have to say about this?

He points to the main reason being that he "couldn't find an identity in the run game." This basically confirms my last couple replies that they are making a serious commitment to the run game from this point forward.

Let the record show...

Olson is a passing game guru, but that's it. If I were a team looking for help in the passing game, or maybe a QB Coach which he has been before, I would not hesitate to sign Olson for the specific role. He's ok at playcalling, but as an OC he needs help. You really don't want him having anything to do with the run game.

Scapegoat. So you hire the QB's coach as OC while the QB is playing like hot garbage. Makes a ton of sense :teehee:

First step in complete overhaul is the firing of coordinators.

Gus is on life support.
Friggin grease ball shouldn't have been hired in the first place. He was already a failure as our QB coach, and then we bring him back after he leads Oakland to a 32nd ranked offense? It was a terrible hire in the first place. I and many others saw this coming from miles away.
Quote:I would will be honest and say I would be more excited or more enthused about this (though not by much) if it had happened earlier. During the bye would have made sense. Including showing Gus the door and promoting Marrone.

How would the bye week have made more sense? We were coming off a rather dominating divisional victory over the Colts.

This should have happened after the Oakland game.....
I'm surprised I haven't seen a tweet from a player yet wishing Olson luck or congratulating Hackett.

If they are not going to fire Bradley, then they should at reassign him to a function that's beneficial to the team. Say, like locking him in a office to guard a stapler. When you need information on a coaching or coordinator candidate, stop in and get Gussy's take. If enthusiastically endorses the candidate, cross that person off of the list immediately.

This came up on twitter just over 10 minutes ago

Wow......43 of 177 posts are MJF.

Thanks for the tweet.

Even if it was Gus' call as he's admitting here, that doesn't mean he lied previously. People change their minds, and he still very well might have been told "someone has to go," and then made this decision.

You could hire actual circus clowns to run this franchise and it wouldn't be anywhere close to as laughable as it is now.

Henne FTW

Because it would have been earlier in the year, a little more time to adjust and Olson wasn't good. Why keep him longer?
I called it when they said no coaching change. Knew olson had to go.

Quote:He had a great one too with the Bucs current head coach.

Eh... no.
This just shows that both Bradley and Khan are beyond stupid.

And no, I am not saying Olson was good but Bradley is a far worse problem than him.

In wouldn't take that seriously. Do you want coaches to come out and trash their players?
