Quote:I am officially open to all conspiracy theories at this point.
Aliens came down and did a mind/body implant. Blake is Chad, Henne is Bortles. Both were memory wiped of the procedure and have no clue they have swapped. #StartHenneNOW.

Quote:Actually it's the contrary, this past offseason is the one he rested his arm the most (he didn't throw for a month after the season was over : http://www.espn.com/blog/jacksonville-ja...-offseason

It was the previous offseason that he really worked without breaks.

Anyway it's true that his motion is terrible and I don't know if he's hurt or is arm tired or anything. But it's the decision making, reading defense and coverage that hasn't improved one bit and that's what he supposedly worked the most on this past offseason. He even spent much less time with Tom House this past offseason to focus on that.

<p style="font-family:Georgia, 'Times New Roman', Times, serif;font-size:16px;color:rgb(72,73,74);">"He also threw an NFL-high 18 interceptions and decision-making and accuracy are the things on which he'll focus throughout the offseason.Bortles said he still plans on going to California to work with House and Palmer, but it will be a shorter trip. "

He does say here that he took a month off in January. The bottom line is, he still needs to rest it more. It may be a matter of monitoring his reps. The thing is, right now his arm is shot, and this not normally the case with him.

Quote:Without looking it up, he has to lead the league in turnovers over the last 3 years or be damn close to it. How many QBs come back from that? Andrew Luck was drug through the dirt for his turnover issues.

Blake was fluky last year and we're repeating past mistakes if QB and Oline aren't 1a and 1b on our needs at this current point.

Blake has 44 INTs since entering the league. By the same point in his respective carreer, Peyton Manning had 50 INTs.

I agree something is wrong with his arm. I think since Lindsay Duke has left he has been a little busy playing pocket pool and that has tired his arm out.
If Blake had an arm issue, and the team knew it, at 2-5 they would absolutely announce it to save what little remains of his confidence. This entire thread is simply making excuses for a guy who appears to have regressed more than any QB in recent memory...

His psyche is so bad now that players are calling him out privately. It's only going to get worse. He might need to take one for the team literally and go down with a "phantom" injury.

Why hasn't Khan flown Tom House to Jacksonville, like yesterday?

I've been wondering about possibly bringing in Tom House for a couple weeks now, although after watching that Titans game I'm convinced there is something wrong with his arm. You can tell a bit by his mechanics. In the Preseason and in the first few games, Blake's throwing motion looked fine, but if you watch him against the Bears and Raiders you see him with a fuller, drawn-out motion where he's putting his entire body into his throws to get off passes. In the last game they told him not to do that, and he couldn't even throw the ball at times or was erratic as heck. His arm is limp just like it was his rookie season.

It's possible.  But just seems hard to believe a guy can get tired throwing a ball 40 times over the span of 3.5 hours once a week.  Don't they have a day or two off during the week?  And I'm sure there are days where they spend more of their time inside studying film instead of being on the practice field?

Yeah I disagree with almost all of Jags02's 'strengths' for Blake as well. The only two plus traits I see for him are durability and he is pretty athletic for his size. Every single trait that involves his arm, mechanics, and brain/vision/decision making are average to below average (to well below average).

Maybe Dave simply moved the wrong college QB to RB...

Terrible analysis by OP.

His rotator cuff is not torn. Cmon guys.

I think it's obvious he didn't put the requisite work in this offseason to maintain the improvements to his mechanics he made in year 2. Now they're tinkering with it midseason and making it worse.

There is zero consistency in his motion, even the bad aspects.

I agree with this. In addition, he is not mentally tough.

Might be what?
His brain is broken
Quote:I still don't think so, but it's a possibility. Pitchers do frequently deal with dead arm periods.

All pitchers do is throw. And there is not much variety in how they do it. So baseball managers know t o give them four days off and have relief pitchers for every game.

Quarterbacks OTOH alternate between throwing and running, so they are able to play entire games without getting "dead arm" problems.

I'm just saying, we don't have any proof one way or the other.

If he tore his rotator cuff, you don't think he might've missed a practice at all? Seen a specialist?

That's a season ending injury. Have you ever heard of a QB playing through a torn rotator cuff?

He's been full go in every practice this year. Not even a limited as far as I know.

Yes, me. I played through one. Couldn't throw more than 10 yards.

Ok, might be a little different but I'll bite.

I saw Bortles throw for 30 on Thursday so we can agree it's not torn then?
Maybe...but something is up with his arm.
If his arm is dead after 7 games then the issues are even bigger than him simply sucking.
