I've been on this board for a while and I have never made a thread based on a source so take that for what it is worth.  A little birdie told me that Blake Bortles may be an alcoholic.  This isn't based on someone being at the beach bars and seeing Blake Bortles wasted which many of us have heard reports of.  This is first hand knowledge over a period of time.  I don't want to give too much detail as I would like to keep the source from being outed.  The source stated that almost (and to be clear, they did specifically state almost) every night, whether at the house or at the beach bars, Blake Bortles was getting wasted.  This was the response after I asked how many drinks it was per day/night.  The source did not know an exact count, but was clear on the "getting wasted" ALMOST every day/night.  I don't like airing someone's dirty laundry as we all have skeletons in our closet and went back and forth on whether to make this thread.  The reason I shared it though is this will be exposed at some point and we might as well come to terms with this now rather than later.  Can I say 100% without a shadow of a doubt that this is true?  No.  But I can say I trust the person I'm getting this information from.  I'm sure others will share stories as well and from my limited investigation which was basically talking to people who live at the beach, I got confirmation that this wasn't out of left field.  Would any of us care if he was playing well?  Probably not which speaks more to our selfishness and desperation of wanting a winning team, but we keep asking why is Blake regressing?  This may explain why.

Same could be said for me and I do my job well LOL

Hell look at Gronk

I wouldn't care if he was a functioning alcoholic, based on his performances this year that's clearly not the case...
Actually this would be welcome news because that can be treated and just generally sucking for no good reason cannot be treated.
Honestly I don't care if he is an alcoholic.

How compassionate of you.
Bobby Layne was a drunk and that turned out fine.

Lol
If true, this would certainly explain his regression, and as Marty said, would be treatable. First and foremost I would like to see this young man get control back over his life. Of course the result of that would be the return of our QB.

I'd be an alcoholic too if I had to come in to this train wreck everyday.

Whatever he does in his personal life is fine, so long as he doesn't hurt others. I care about him on the field, and if this explains his regression, its up to him to fix it.
I have seen Him at the beach bars a lot and saw him at the bars in Orlando when he was at Ucf.

But who am I to judge? I was there too.

Everyone handles it differently. I work with a guy who is a highly functioning alcoholic. Quite a few times I've seen him show up still slightly slurring his words and yet perform as if he were sober. Whereas me, on the other hand, am more useless than normal if I have just a couple too many the night before.

I wonder what exactly "getting wasted" actually means?  Is he getting physically drunk where he can't walk or talk?

Now it doesn't surprise me that players might actually go out and "over indulge" at times.  My son worked at a place where he said that he saw Josh Scobee come in and drink quite heavily.
Just to clarify, are they saying this just started this season?

All he needs is a mound and a catcher giving signals.
Wallbash Don't tell me we have a Johnny Football on our hands.

That's the thing about alcoholics, even if their disease does adversely affect others they typically will still not seek treatment unless persuaded by others. If this rumor is true, perhaps those around him should start steering him towards a course of treatment.
Based on his mechanics, would he be a scotch guy or a vodka guy?
