Twice (5&6) the computer assigned Kirk, Christian (WR) Texas A&M as the Jaguars' 1-29 pick. Each time it did this James, Derwin (FS) Florida State was left on the board also.

My Big Board...

 1. WR Courtland Sutton
 2. TE Dallas Goedert
 3. SLB Leighton Vander Esch
 4. G Isaiah Wynn
 5. QB Mason Rudolph or Lamar Jackson (I have them graded evenly)
 6. TE Mike Gesicki
 7. WR Calvin Ridley
 8. G Will Hernandez
 9. OT Conner Williams
 10. WR DJ Shark  -  I'm no longer so sure about DJ Moore
 11. MLB Rashaan Evans
 12. TE Hayden Hurst
 13. C James Daniels
Am I missing anyone?

Mine is just for the #29 pick, but feel free to make true big boards to include later rounds.

1.  Hernandez
2.  M. Rudolph
3.  Ridley
4.  Courtland Sutton
5.  Gesicki
6.  Rashaan Evans
7.  Conner Williams
8.  Hurst
9.  Chark
10.  Tyrell Crosby
11. Goedert
12.  J. Washington
13.  L. Jackson
14.  C. Kirk

Later round players include, but are not limited to

Martinas Rankin
J Scott
Daesean Hamilton
Mark Andrews
D. Schultz
Brandon Parker
Orlando Brown (if 4th round or lower)
Tony Adams
B.J. Hill
Darius Leonard
Malik Jefferson
This list has changed in my head a LOT. It will probably change again before draft day too.

But my draft wish list for the first round goes a bit like this...

Goedert
Hernandez
Gesicki
Hurst

and then if we don’t get one of these..

Price
Wynn
McGlinchey
Sutton
Jackson

Most other selections would be a surprise or a disappointment.

Kessler is no competition for Bortles. He's strictly a clipboard holder with NFL experience who can improve as a passer, but has limited upside. I believe 100% we're going to bring in legitimate competition for Bortles via the draft. It may be round 1 or it could be as late as round 3, but somewhere in those first 3 rounds, I'm expecting a QB.

I think that's what they wanted. They wanted a player that the fans wouldn't scream for if Bortles threw two picks in the first half. They also wanted a veteran backup in case he was needed. They also wanted to add a young guy that has a chance to develop into a long term solution. I think Kessler is all 3 of those things.

Kessler is better than anything we could've drafter after the 1st round.
Daesean Hamilton is going to be a stud in the slot.

He should be there at the end of the 4th round. Would be a good value pick, although they might prefer a taller guy for the red zone.
1. Mason Rudolph
2. Leighton Vander Esch
3. Will Hernandez
4. Dallas Goedert
5. Courtland Sutton
6a. Connor Williams
6b. D.J. Moore
6c. Isaiah Wynn
I think there will only be @ 2 of these names left at 29. I think there will be 6 QB's taken before the Jags pick. I've seen some, mainly older, drafts that have Kolton Miller picked around 29, I'd take a look at him also but I don't think he'll be there.
1. Will Hernandez
2. Conner Williams
3. Mike Gesecki
4. Dallas Goedert
5. Mason Rudolph
6. Anthony Miller

I think he'll be there in the 4-5 round. Probably no later.

Kessler is not going to affect anything in this draft.  There's a chance he may not even make the team.  Even if he did, what you'd want to do is have Bortles as the starter, Kessler as the backup, and then make the rookie inactive.  If Bortles gets hurt, Kessler comes in for that game, then afterwards you get both guys up to speed and see which one is ready for that next week (assuming Bortles is out again).  You don't want a rookie to be your direct backup unless you're in rebuild mode, which we clearly are not.

The Chiefs had a rookie back up last year and that worked out o.k.

Smith started every game except Week 17, which was a meaningless game.  If he would have gotten hurt, then maybe it wouldn't have worked out, we don't know.

I am willing to bet that Cleveland does something similar if Tryod is alright.

Maybe it's just preference, but I see no need to throw in a rookie if Bortles got hurt.  We have a lot of talent where we would just need the backup not to screw up.  And unlike KC, there's also no rush to get rid of Bortles.  The rookie can take his time learning.
For me, I'd say my first round would go something like this (this assumes all the guys slotted to go before us, actually are taken. e.g. Nelson, Rosen, Darnold, all gone)

1. Lamar Jackson
2. Will Hernandez
3. Isiah Wynn
4. Billy Price
5. Mike McGlinchey

If all those guys are gone, I'd be fine with best available defender. I don't see TE or WR in the first round making much sense. We have to find a replacement for Dareus at some point (although that can be had in later rounds if we want just a run defender), SS can be upgraded at some point, LB depth isn't the best, and it's just never a bad thing to take the best player on your board.
Will Hernandez
Billy Price
Frank Ragnow

My top 3 guys in no order of we dont take a QB. If we take a QB it's Rudolph

How does TE not make all kinds of sense.

How does TE not make all kinds of sense.

For two reasons.

1. I don't think these guys warrant a first round pick based on their talent.
2. None of these guys can really block, which goes against the one thing we want to do, which is run the darn ball down the other team's throat.

Maybe they see a guy they can develop, but why take a TE that high if he's a development guy?  QB aside, we would ideally want a guy that is going to contribute now since we have a real window to the SB at the moment.

I think you're sleeping on Geodert. The guy is one of the most complete TEs to come out in quite some time and easily carries a first-round grade.

On Gesicki I'll agree that he needs to develop as a blocker, but did you see his combine numbers? We're talking about elite TE numbers here making him a very real threat in the passing game.

I could definitely be wrong.  I don't put too much stock into combine numbers.  If Jags take Goedert, then I'm assuming it's with the idea that he'll be able to block right away and they can develop him in the passing game.
