This list has changed in my head a LOT. It will probably change again before draft day too.
But my draft wish list for the first round goes a bit like this... Goedert Hernandez Gesicki Hurst and then if we don’t get one of these.. Price Wynn McGlinchey Sutton Jackson Most other selections would be a surprise or a disappointment. They wanted a player that the fans wouldn't scream for if Bortles threw two picks in the first half. They also wanted a veteran backup in case he was needed. They also wanted to add a young guy that has a chance to develop into a long term solution. I think Kessler is all 3 of those things. Kessler is better than anything we could've drafter after the 1st round.

1. Mason Rudolph
2. Leighton Vander Esch 3. Will Hernandez 4. Dallas Goedert 5. Courtland Sutton 6a. Connor Williams 6b. D.J. Moore 6c. Isaiah Wynn I think there will only be @ 2 of these names left at 29. I think there will be 6 QB's taken before the Jags pick. I've seen some, mainly older, drafts that have Kolton Miller picked around 29, I'd take a look at him also but I don't think he'll be there.
1. Will Hernandez
2. Conner Williams 3. Mike Gesecki 4. Dallas Goedert 5. Mason Rudolph 6. Anthony Miller

Even if he did, what you'd want to do is have Bortles as the starter, Kessler as the backup, and then make the rookie inactive. If Bortles gets hurt, Kessler comes in for that game, then afterwards you get both guys up to speed and see which one is ready for that next week (assuming Bortles is out again). You don't want a rookie to be your direct backup unless you're in rebuild mode, which we clearly are not. You don't want a rookie to be your direct backup unless you're in rebuild mode, which we clearly are not. Smith started every game except Week 17, which was a meaningless game. If he would have gotten hurt, then maybe it wouldn't have worked out, we don't know. I am willing to bet that Cleveland does something similar if Tryod is alright. Maybe it's just preference, but I see no need to throw in a rookie if Bortles got hurt. We have a lot of talent where we would just need the backup not to screw up. And unlike KC, there's also no rush to get rid of Bortles. The rookie can take his time learning.
For me, I'd say my first round would go something like this (this assumes all the guys slotted to go before us, actually are taken. e.g. Nelson, Rosen, Darnold, all gone)
1. Lamar Jackson 2. Will Hernandez 3. Isiah Wynn 4. Billy Price 5. Mike McGlinchey If all those guys are gone, I'd be fine with best available defender. I don't see TE or WR in the first round making much sense. We have to find a replacement for Dareus at some point (although that can be had in later rounds if we want just a run defender), SS can be upgraded at some point, LB depth isn't the best, and it's just never a bad thing to take the best player on your board.
Will Hernandez
Billy Price Frank Ragnow My top 3 guys in no order of we dont take a QB. If we take a QB it's Rudolph (04-04-2018, 02:21 PM)Markulous Wrote: For me, I'd say my first round would go something like this (this assumes all the guys slotted to go before us, actually are taken. e.g. Nelson, Rosen, Darnold, all gone) How does TE not make all kinds of sense.

I don't think these guys warrant a first round pick based on their talent. 2. None of these guys can really block, which goes against the one thing we want to do, which is run the darn ball down the other team's throat. Maybe they see a guy they can develop, but why take a TE that high if he's a development guy? QB aside, we would ideally want a guy that is going to contribute now since we have a real window to the SB at the moment. The guy is one of the most complete TEs to come out in quite some time and easily carries a first-round grade. On Gesicki I'll agree that he needs to develop as a blocker, but did you see his combine numbers? We're talking about elite TE numbers here making him a very real threat in the passing game.
