The injury clause does not go into effect unless he does not pass a physical and is ruled ineligible to play a game. 

This was well publicized.

The news clip does not mention he will be paid $18 million simply for showing up on the first injury report.

@adamschefter Jaguars’ QB Blake Bortles underwent right wrist surgery Friday for a condition that kept him on the injury report all season, sources told ESPN. 

Bortles dealt with the issue since December 2016. The Jaguars elected to avoid surgery last offseason, but knew it was needed now.


This more than likely seals that he will more than likely be returning imo. Bummer.
