"£789 million (£1.09 billion today)" cost to build it. There's still some finance to pay off, so if he takes on the debt too then a good deal for the FA. Wembley Stadium is a wholly owned Limited company by the FA.

I really don't encourage this unless there is a compelling reason, but you should really be dedicating more time to looking at pron when you're on the computer.

Seems like a solid buy for Khan too though. I'm sure he profits like crazy when the Jags play there, and if he locks up the stadium it's basically securing that the Jags get at least a game there a season beyond 2020 when the contract ends. Not only is he profiting off the one time game there, but merchandise and exposure. 

It just seems crazy cheap as a bid, I am sure he will have to up the ante a bit.

If this is a move for Shad to profit off any NFL game played in Wembley, and the other NFL owners balked at putting money in a competitors pocket, why wouldnt they just play the games elsewhere? Havent some of the UK games already been played in other locations? Wasnt there a game in Newcastle? Why not play at Old Trafford? Isn't there a brand new huge stadium in Wales?

This guy is a genius business man. The profit he'll make on it will be nuts.

The place is barely used in a normal year and when Spurs go back to their stadium it'll return to that. The bid probably reflects it's current use to be fair. It cost £800K to build and there's probably about £200K of the finance left to pay and so recouping the £800K they have probably spent (inc interest) on repaying the loan will probably look very attractive.

There are a smattering of possible 6-10 international soccer games, 3 domestic soccer cup finals, 2 domestic cup semi finals, 4 play off finals, 2 NFL games and probably 1 or 2 concerts in the stadium a year. 23 days a year the actual stadium is probably used, so there's huge potential to grow it's use. There are conference facilities and the FA rent offices too.

So if Shad Khan had $1 Billion to spend on a stadium in Wembley. Why didn’t he put that money up toward a new stadium in Jacksonville?

I can't see that...That would be a nightmare for logistics plus way too much travel time..It would be hard to find players who would want to come here and travel 17 hours one way every couple weeks or so,or spend like a month away from home

But if he has the money to pay $750 million cash for the Jaguars, and slightly more for the stadium at Wembley, to say nothing about how he would finance the shipyards and associated projects, who is to say he won't pony up for a new stadium here?

More than likely because Jacksonville does not need a new stadium.

Much, much greater return on investment is the very simple answer to the initial question. 

He likely intends to spend hundreds of millions on a a new stadium in Jax at some point. This deal will make that easier on two fronts. Leverage with the city and increased revenue to draw from.
