In all seriousness, and the injuries this year aside, I don't disagree with most of this. While I am more of a Caldwell advocate than a detractor by a very good margin, aspects of the draft, personnel decisions and certainly the QB situation have been mismanaged. Most of them work themselves out eventually - but the QB thing and the general complacency regarding O-Line depth are part of the problem we currently find ourselves in.
(I know they added Richardson and Norwell - but more was required - and it should have begun the year prior)
Blake did just enough last year to sneak back in, and it didn't take long for many of us to go from cautiously optimistic back to distrustful of his abilities.
If Caldwell
is indeed retained to help rectify this situation, it will be the ultimate career tipping point for a GM and a rare opportunity for a GM to select/acquire two prominent quarterbacks.

Thanks for a more articulate summary of my point. My fandom is shading my typing. It is hard to bump along so long at the bottom to be teased by success. It feels like Del Rio era all over again, Mr Toad's Wild Ride.

Let me clarify. To follow up to the Del Rio success, we scrapped a solid draft plan and went all in on pass rush only because that was going to do it. That short sighted vision breaks down and did hurt our long term viability. This off season as you accurately summarize, we did the same thing because we went all in on a strategy of the running game. It just feels like we are missing again and that is what hurts.

I don't blame them too much for the decision to resign Bortles. The way he played at the end of last year fooled them into thinking he'd turned the corner. Personally, I was fooled too after being initially largely against keeping him on the roster. And the early games this year made it seem like the team could win with him behind center. The injuries just exposed what most people already knew and some of us had forgotten during December/January of last year and the first two or three games this year.

I agree in that I understand why they re-signed him. I just wish they had more foresight than they did in that regard.
You really won't find tons of indictment of this FO from me, but we can't ignore that the QB situation didn't work out like they planned.
With another pathetic showing in London the team pretty much has to make a move. With our bye week it would be the perfect time to try and get things right so we're competitive. I think with Bridgewater/Hyde we could be competitive and later Fournette will be back in the mix. Maybe trade Bortles to some team like the Giants, Dolphins or Raiders.
The whole BB5 situation looked better after the late regular season and playoff season last year.
Hence, they gave him a contract hoping for continued better play with his wrist pain fixed, renewed work with the California group and '
all the "feel good" that went along with it.
Whatever happens in London....win or lose....it's up to the FO to really start thinking about
our QB situation. Even if we get back into even a wild card spot.....the up and down of his production
hurts the whole team.
