Also lol at you saying CBs are becoming obsolete. The more pass happy the NFL goes the more important elite corners become, even if it's harder overall for them to cover. They are getting more valuable not less.

I am aware. I also ment more that CBs are being obsolete in how you should invest in your team, in my opinion. Pay up big for offense, especially your QB, and for pass rushers. With the way the league is trending, this makes the most sense to me. Just keep the back end fresh with playmakers via draft or mid level guys.

So, who we cutting to free up the 11 Mil extra per year to sign Jalen to an extension this offseason? He's 7M, going to want 18M. I think it's a fantastic idea to have the #1 and #3 paid CBs in the league (currently Bouye is #2 at 15.5). We must make Jalen happy. This makes perfect sense to me, you guys are right.

Sorry, still not in team extend Jalen this offseason.

We will have close to 30 million in cap space when all is said and done and you can structure things a multitude of ways to make it favourable the first year or two.

As the pass game gets more valuable so does high end corners.

In an ideal world I'd wait to sign Ramsey too, but if waiting means you risk the chance of him forcing a move out or losing all trust with the organisation then I'd just sign him and get it done.
You will never be able to pay this guy what he or his agent think he is worth. I wouldn't be shocked if he held out next training camp, then the next. Jags need to get ahead of the buck here while the iron is hot.

Trust me on this one... Just trust me.

Mate, I wouldn't trust you to hold a $2 bill for me.

Didn't even know they had 2 dollar bills in foreign countries.

Our money is actually worth something, so I'd definitely wouldn't trust you with that.
Said this when we drafted him. Although he did have a great year last years, I think this would make our D dynamic if we add another decent corner.

Said this before he was drafted, I really feel with Ramsey and Harrison at safties our D could go to another level.
Don't you think a move to safety would encourage Ramsey to hold out? Cornerback money > safety money.

It says "pay him then convince him"
You could put Ramsey anywhere in the secondary and he'll be a beast.
You'll definitely have to pay him lockdown corner money to do it though.

I just hope they can convince him to wait till 2020 for his big contract w/o holding out, and moving him to FS would mean paying him this offseason.
Ramsey is still under contract and the Jags can always exercise the 5th year option anyway. No reason to give him more money when we're up tight against the cap. Best to wait until 2020 when Campbell and Bouye will probably be cap casualties.
I, like others, thought Ramsey was a better fit for an NFL Safety than a CB. Could he be convinced of that though?
I'm down with having Jalen playing FS mostly, but would he still be able to shadow Gronk and AB and other receivers, the ones who are by far the best on their team?
Jalen at safety is [BLEEP], Corners are a premier position, safeties are what guys who can't play corner (at all or anymore) do.

I would be all for this later in his career, when Woodson (while with the Ravens, not the Steelers) and others made the switch from CB to S.

Right now he's too good at CB.

He's versatile enough to do it  and it'd be fun but he's more valuable as a shutdown corner.

Better off to keep him at corner and mix in some safety/nickel play.

I don't get why we would take a top 5 corner and make him less valuable. Theres a reason safeties don't make as much money.
Also, good luck telling Jalen he's not gonna be covering the top WRs and keeping him happy lmao
Your best bet is to part ways with him. Get ahead of the game. We don't have the staff or the culture to deal with a diva. He has and will continue to be a cancer in the locker room and it will only get worse.

Every team has divas. Get over the diva crap.
