I think Foles would be a good fit in Jacksonville but A) No way am i expecting him to be a top 10 QB here B) No way am i giving him 100 million over 4 years C) A QB contract on a rookie deal is the biggest team building advantage in the sport right now
Lol, sounds like the definiton of when JackCity falls in love with one. You always say the same things and then its exactly what you do

Other than Goff, what other QB has led his team to a SB on a rookie deal? Wentz was on a rookie deal but sat the bench while Foles led his team to win it. Marino? Elway?
Nah my track record with draft prospects I love is generally pretty good. Can you name 3 bad QBs I've died on a hill over?
Thats a pretty dumb argument to try dispute a widely agreed upon point but for the purpose of clowning you , in recent history :
Goff
Wilson
Flacco
Kap
Cam Newton
Why do you think having a starting QB on a rookie deal isn't a massive team building advantage?

Not bad except for Kap, 2 were the first QB taken in the draft. A lot of those wasnt on record but it looks like you missed on Jackson and missed on Teddy. I was huge on Newton and was by far my favorite QB in the draft. I liked Wentz better than Goff. I missed on Manziel for the same reason I missed on Blackmon, it had nothing to do with there talents they were just both addicts. You usually go with who the media or twitter likes but there are wrong as much as they are right.

Manziel just wasn't good. Blackmon was a stud but if Manziel was as talented as you claim, he would still be in the league. The NFL loves giving 2nd chances to great talents (Michael Vick).
The point here is that only one of us actually thinks Tebow was a great/HOF QB.....

That isn't a list of QBs I hit on. Thats a list of QBs that made the superbowls on rookie contracts in recent memory, like you asked.
Also, can you show me exactly how I missed on Teddy? Nobody has "missed" on Jackson after 7 games.
Yeah guys like Adrian Amos, Kevin Byard, Braden Smith etc etc were definitely huge media guys, not guys I actually liked based off my own watching of them. I mean you can find the threads on here if you want.

Where did I say this lol? I just told you yesterday who wouldnt want a younger and cheaper QB if both were equal. Did you already forget that conversation? Of course QB on a rookie deal is an advantage if he is really good, but the odds of finding that SB winning QB arent good at all.
I feel our team is too close to risk trying to hit on that rookie if we can get a proven SB MVP winning QB like Foles. The defense is there, I think our running game will be back with our healthy oline, and I feel we can get Foles more weapons early in the draft. If we go with a rookie thats fine but I think our odds of winning a title are much higher the next couple years if we go with the proven Foles

Not sure if you are playing stupid or if its just a natural disposition. I said "having a Qb on a rookie deal is a massive advantage" to which you said " oh yeah name some QBs who've got their team to a SB on a rookie deal then (which is a dumb argument to disprove the point made), i then listed some in recent memory. So you have no issues with my statement then? Good.
Tebow and Manziel? I'm not sure where you got the idea that I'm died on a hill over Teddy vs the other Qbs in the draft considering I barely posted back then. You've also claimed multiple time that my draft takes come from the media and twitter, despite plenty of evidence in multiple threads on here to the contrary

So the 2 time National Champ, Heisman winner, the guy that had more comeback wins than anyone in the league, and the guy that had over 300 yards and 3 TDs to lead the Broncos to a win in the playoffs? Your best shot of winning the SB is either A) Having a HOF QB or B) Having an incredibly well built team. A starting QB on a rookie deal is one of the greatest team building advantages you can have in todays NFL so yes it would be a big help to have that if you are trying to win a SB and don't have a QB.
His natty and heisman count for nothing in the NFL. His NFL resume is a bad QB who was historically inaccurate and had a good run to the playoffs. He was a bust pick and he's not in the league because he's not enough at throwing the ball. You can keep dying on a hill over him because he went to your school and we will keep making fun of you for it.

You also have to remember that there wasn’t a rookie cap until recently like 2012? Before that it wasn’t a huge advantage because top tier qbs got massive deals right out of college.
(01-31-2019, 04:46 PM)NYC4jags Wrote: [ -> ]I’m not worried about being under the cap.
My concern is extending Ramsey and Ngakoue.
Looks like that will be fine as well as long as they don’t pay stupid millions for a QB or overspend on other free agents.
If you dip your toe into free agency, it's guaranteed you're going to overspend. How much you overspend depends on the quality of the FAs you're bringing in.
As far as paying stupid milions for a QB, the only way to avoid that is to do whatever you have to do to select the best QB in the draft, AND sign a veteran FA to a reasonable deal. Again, you're going to overspend on any veteran you sign because that's the nature of the beast.
