Not understating how amazing Campbell was either. Just odd to bring up Campbell when we all know he’s better than Yan.
You dont understand how good Campbell was? Have you watched the Jags games over the last few yeara?
Try rereading what I wrote lol
Good grief.
Trade Yan for Adam's straight up

Yes please!
We'd be in the exact same situation with Adams that we are in now with Yan. A disgruntled player who wants a big new contract. So what's the point?

We will miss Yannick Ngakoue if he doesn't play.
We're gonna miss Campbell more than Yan
I agree completely.
Alost the fact that we really don't have a player that is near his caliber like the situation with yan and Allen. Not to mention Dauris is leaving. Our D line went from one the best in the league to relying on Bryant in the middle.
Every time I look back on 17 i get bummed. I thought that the players we had were young enough was under the assumption we would have that unit for a while. I get some moves but it is a shame we wasted that D.

Don't look back look forward. One fluke season. That almost same D didn't fare too well once Darius went out. You could argue he was more important. We hopefully have a somewhat decent replacement in the Ohio st kid. We shall see.
It's like I used to say when going out to bars clubs in my 20s. I have a pocketful of potential.
Yeah the nfl can change fast year to year. I don’t think we are going to be elite this year, but it would be nice to see an offensive identify that we can believe in emerge. Even 8-8 with a team that was fun to watch would be a big success.

Adams is demanding to become the highest paid safety in the NFL. That would require he be paid at least $17 million per year. Yannick says he won't play for the Jags regardless of the salary. Although I doubt that is true, I also doubt Caldwell will pay him what he wants. That being said, a deal for Adams makes sense. He is the best safety in the league, young, and a playmaker on defense. He would also cost less than Yannick (say $3 million per season). The need is definitely there as safety is a weakness on the Jags defense.
Skeptics will say $17 million is way too much to pay a safety. No doubt that is very true, but everyone is overpaid in the NFL. The Jags have cleared a tremendous amount of money from their salary cap and can afford it.
The bigger questions are whether Adams would agree to come to the Jags and whether the Jets would pay Yannick what he wants. Most likely, the answer to each of these questions is a resounding "no," but I'd still try to make this deal.

This is a great point ?. This would allow both guys to get a change of scenery without losing significant amounts of talent (On paper at least).

I believe our offense is going to put up points. Fournette is going to face less men in the box. Shenault, Chark, Westbrook, Conley, Oliver, Eifert, with some Chris Thompson...they are going to be a headache for the opposition.
Minshew Mania will be a seasoned vet this season and will have this offense rollin.
Over on defense we have Pro Bowler Josh Allen, the rookie CB, Ngkogue, Bryan, Williams, Jack back at his natural position, so we’re still going to get home and cause some turnovers. #37 lead the team in picks last year so he will be a year better. We need our safeties to step it up. We got the other rookie DE from LSU that looks very promising.
Lambo is the best kicker in the league right now if you ask me.
2020 is going to be a fun year. We’re gonna be a team that spoils some parties and a team that could slip in the back door. Tell ya what, teams better bring their A game because we’re a young team that could knock them out.

Oliver - has not done anything and he looks like nothing special, maybe he is decent though.
Eifert - has a lot of trouble staying healthy
Chris Thompson - didn't score once last year and is nothing special
Ngkogue - don't know him
Bryan has been average at best
Williams as in Quincy Williams? the guy who got benched? hopefully he will improve but it doesn't even look like he is going to start
And we still have Wash, so the defense is gonna suck.

Yeah my man is drunk on that teal Kool-Aid when a lot of things has to go right for us to even have a decent season this year. What's interesting to me is people are making this assumption that Gardner Minshew is going to take the next step when last year could have been the best version of him he was as a NFL quarterback.

I appreciate your optimism. It's always better to be an optimist than a pessimist.
But, the problem I see is that we have so many rookies, and a brand new offense and offensive coordinator, and we won't have much practice time.

My expectations are low but that doesn’t mean I’m not excited to see it play out.

It's possible he may regress and we may have seen his best already but it's not likely. Most players improve from their rookie season to their next and although the sophomore slump does happen, it's not *that* common. Given his work ethic I'd bet he'll be one of the ones who improve.

They said the same thing about Baker Mayfield upcoming sophomore season and you see what happened to him last year. Sam Donald didn't exactly light it up either and although the Vikings went to the playoffs with Teddy Bridgewater as their QB during in his sophomore season he regress that year as well. Let's not forget about Robert Griffin sophomore season and Sam Bradford sophomore season wasn't his greatest either. I'm just saying that it's not a guaranteed that Gardner Minshew will improve because a lot of things have to be in place for him to be at his best.

That's what I'm saying, we don't really know. But I have a feeling Minshew will be less like the guys you mentioned and more like Matt Ryan, Joe Flacco, Josh Freeman, Cam Newton or Andy Dalton in their second years. None had truly great second seasons but they were all solid and played better than their rookie year. And Minshew had arguably a better rookie year than those guys with the possible exception of Newton. We'll see.
