I think Shenault is going to be an absolute gamechanger who will open things up for our offense - both in the running and passing games.
Pick of the draft
He could be real good real quick for us.

Ben Solak of the draft network was always very high on him. This article was written before the combine, which really hurt Shenault's stock because he tried to compete at less than 100%. Solak had him rated as WR2 at that stage.

COLORADO WR LAVISKA SHENAULT JR.: MID 1
Okay, everyone remain calm. Let's talk it through.

We start here: Laviska Shenault Jr. is a rarity. Everyone knows that, but the problem with everyone knowing it is that it gets old after a while, and we underappreciate its effect. Perhaps the combine will remind everyone and drum up his Round 1 status again. It should.

Shenault is a rare athlete and was used as such: jet sweeps, designed running back touches, designed wildcat touches and so on. But we cannot let that usage conflate his success as a true receiver, where he is as natural for the position as they come. Shenault has tremendous hands outside of his frame, the product of strong mitts and quality catch technique. He makes inaccurate balls at his waistline or below his hips looks like routine grabs and has enough grip strength to maintain tough and inaccurate catches through contact and while in the air.

Does Shenault have the best routes? Absolutely not. Does he need them? No, he doesn't.

Shenault has smoothness and suddenness that allows him to win on the basic route tree paired with the unbelievable strength and home-run ability as a runner — he doesn't need to be snapping off post-corner-posts all day. Just hit him in stride — something that never happened in Colorado — and he's fully unlocked.

Shenault is the scariest player in this WR class; I think he has the highest ceiling.

I'm excited.

Ok one more essential read: seems like a determined young man who's had to overcome a lot in his life https://thedraftnetwork.com/articles/fro...a-shenault
My first thought is that he's got the ability to make good things happen with the ball in his hands. Wildcat, backfield, or WR... seems to be able to make things happen. Don't know enough about him, but might be nice in returns, too. Just seems to have good vision, quickness, and strength to break away.
He reminds me a lot of Cardinals era Anquan Boldin.

Lifetime Buffs fan here. If he can stay healthy, he will be your favorite Jag. Great kid, great work ethic and great talent.  So easy to root for.
Midway through the 2018 season, a few mocks had him going top 5/10.  There is not a player in the draft who is more dangerous with the ball in his hands.
I saw a few posts up, someone mentioned returns. i wouldn't bet on that, but CU put him at KOR 1 time when they needed a big play.
he returned the KO around 50 or so yards and looked to possibly on his way to scoring until a defender poked the ball out from behind.

Great pic Jags, you also have a new fan.
I wrote the following during the Combine period that I would like to share here,, now that Laviska Shenault Jr. was selected by the Jaguars. He's one of my favorite players in this draft, not just because of his impressive natural abilities. The Jaguars added a heck of a competitor and team player:

Kudos to Laviska Shenault for running the 40 and for doing the bench press drill, despite the groin injury. Not to mention Shenault playing through the injury, with the exception of the injury keeping him out for 2 games. Shenault's overall injury history is concerning, as he missed 3 games in the 2018 season. But from ability, production, versality, and competitive standpoints, Shenault has plenty of positives as an NFL draft prospect. The groin injury should be kept in mind regarding his 4.58 40 Time. Teams will have to look at the game tapes closely to see how fast, quick, and flexible Shenault looked when he was relatively healthy. With pick # 35 in Round 2, I think Shenault should at least be in the conversation for the Lions, if the team's medical people are satisfied.

Definitely one of my favorite NFL WRs.  Even in season # 14 for Anquan Boldin, he was a difference maker in the Lions making the playoffs in his one season with the team. It was a privilege watching Boldin play each game that season.  It sure felt better than watching him in an opposing uniform in his NFL record setting debut performance as a rookie in a game that was a shootout.

It wouldn't surprise me if Laviska Shenault is a great football character version of Justin Blackmon.

Haha good memory D6, Boldin must've made an impression on you that day. I'd be ecstatic if Shenault had Boldin's career for sure.

If he can be a sober Blackmon, then we have the steal of the draft.
Watching those clips, I think Shenault needs to see some time as a KOR. He's got some Brian Mitchell to his game. Maybe not the fastest guy on the field, but no slouch either, has a few moves, but mostly just refuses to be pulled down.

i wouldn't waste him taking unnecessary hits
I’m really curious to see how Gruden uses him. He’s going to lineup everywhere and be a matchup nightmare for defenses.

I have the same thoughts, keep him away from the garbage that all Jags good WRs seem to get into

"Sideline Kill"

Shenault wrote this letter to all GMs. Great Read. This is what Caldwell just acquired for our team Jaguar Fans...

yup! read my mind on the Boldin comparison. stocky receiver who times a bit slower than your average WR but has game speed, great hands, and is PHYSICAL & PUNISHING. I also think that he wasn't fully back from his core injury and probably didn't run as well as he could've. Him and Chark are going to be a dangerous pairing on the outside; and hopefully he encourages Fournette to get back to his rookie year ways of running through opponents instead of looking to go out of bounds. I could see the Jags having a revival of their smashmouth 2005 season, where even in the few games the Jags lost, the team that played us was guaranteed to lose the next week because they were just soooo beat up from having to get hit hard every single play for 60 minutes. I love this pick!! Caldwell has always had an eye for receivers dating back to his days with the Falcons when he was the impetus for the trade up for Julio Jones.
