The left is evil, Marty, not Trump.

Yep, and Trump just donated his salary to help fix the statues people The Real Marty supports destroyed during their riots. Marty is the essence of the seriousness of TDS.

It sounds like you are frustrated and don't know which way to turn.  Here is my suggestion.....vote for a Democrat.  By doing so you won't have to waste time thinking for yourself.  They will show you how to live and make all your decisions for you.

I will make the financial sacrifice for the good of the country.

I'm a Republican more than a Democrat.  But to me, the biggest issue in this campaign is that we have the most dishonest and ignorant President in the history of this country, a man who also has a severe personality disorder, and we have to get him out of there.

That's my position.  I'm not going to go down the rabbit hole with you guys into a 50 page argument.  It does no good, anyway, because none of you guys are going to change your mind.

It's about way more than just taxes. Surely you know that.

But go ahead, stick your fingers in your ears and start singing.

I'll keep reading and occasionally posting, but I'm not going to waste my energy on a 50 page argument that accomplishes nothing.

Surely you will admit, no one on this message board ever changes their mind about anything as a result of these arguments.  These arguments only serve one purpose- practicing refuting the arguments posed by the other side.  It's a little game.  A thread ends, hit reset, start another game.  No one ever wins.

I learned something a long time ago.  The best way to change anyone's mind is to state your position and then let it go.  An argument is the worst way to change anyone's mind.  But I don't think that's what you guys are really after.  I think you're just in it for the sport.

A well reasoned argument free of invective does accomplish some things, but we don't get those here, lol.

I respect your position, Marty.
It's hard to change someone's mind on a message board, because most people who are invested enough to participate on one are already active in the political world. I do think the people who are less likely to post, but lurk in the background, are more susceptible to persuasion, because they are coming here for additional thoughts, not necessarily to share their opinion. I do think message boards are useful, though, because you can see how the non-politician perceives the political world. It's just as important for me to know Marty's reasoning as it is for me to know RJ's, or homebiscuits, or Stroudcrowd's. So, while you might not change my mind TRM, you do help me understand the motivations of others like you, and I think that is important.
On a side note, my five year old daughter overheard my wife and I talking politics this morning. She started asking questions, so I explained elections and Presidents. When I finished, she said, between Biden and Trump, which one is going to make less rules? And I said, they will each make rules in their own way (even though that's supposed to be limited), but probably Trump. And she said, well, that's who I'd vote for. Thought it was interesting that even at a young age, a person might choose based on what they don't want.

I think its human instinct to not want to be controlled.

Especially considering we were engineered to do just that.

You certainly were if you attended the public school/university system in the last 25 years.

Or I don’t subscribe to team politics. Just because trump is republican doesn’t mean he automatically gets my support, he’s careless in his actions and words and that has real consequences for real people. I said pretty clearly I won’t support socialism via proxy through the Democrats but that doesn’t mean I’ll support crony capitalism via trump either. No politician especially the head of the executive state should be picking winners and losers in a free market. Justify that GOP so much for free market capitalism huh?

Goodyear entered the political arena and Trump slapped them down as he should've. Play stupid games, win stupid prizes. Maybe you should be voicing your concerns to your company since it was their fault this happened?
We're prohibited from discussing politics in the workplace, just as we are also prohibited from discussing religion. We are trained via our Ethics Training Courses on what is allowed and not allowed. Goodyear is only following their Policy, which reflects the same regulations as most other pubic companies. Trumps tweet for a boycott is very unpresidential

I agree. But where Goodyear stepped on their crank is when they targeted a specific political party and candidate. What the little guide should have said was prohibited is "Political slogans". Someone in HR should be reprimanded.

Goodyear decided to side with a certain sect of society...

Stupid decision.

It's much safer to say NO POLITICS then to say... hey you can say THESE things, but you can't say THESE things.

Terribly stupid.

In a sea of ignorant comments, you, sir, take the cake.  You know absolutely nothing about which you speak, but that's pretty normal for the Trump bandwagon on these boards.

Response? Don't have one? Why would you - you agree with the sect they chose. And that's the problem. Us vs Them.

Goodyear actually DID say no politics.  They just had to enforce it on the MAGA crowd and Trump threw a hissy fit like he always does.

But I'm sure even if that weren't true you'd somehow justify the leader of a nation playing pied piper to attempt to bankrupt an American company.  He loves us all so much, after all.

Bull [BLEEP]. If BLM and LGBTBBQ+_>?@ are permitted then "politics" are permitted. Once they did that then banning certain politics is wrong.
