I'm curious on the play-calling for Luton against Houston. It appeared he took a few more deep/intermediate shots than Minshew recently. But, how much of that was:

1. Using a limited playbook for Luton
2. Luton possibly more likely to look downfield (I find this strange since Minshew came from the air raid unless Gruden is coaching him away from looking downfield)
3. Minshew knowing he was limited in his ability to throw due to injury so didn't try the deeper passes (seems most likely to me)
4. Houston secondary is atrocious and guys were just open.

I find it really strange that last year, Minshew excelled in the intermediate/deep passes and that was his strength in college as well, yet we don't seem to do it much. Makes me wonder if Gruden is really using his QBs to their skillsets or if Minshew's injury was causing him to limit his deeper passes on his own.
Yes the Houston Texans have injured players on defense but the fact is that were the second worst team in the league and he did it against a team as bad bad as ours..he did that as a rookie and has more spark better arm than minshew.. Get a better defense off the 90 million in cap space.. Get more players in draft for Futon for next year.. Also oline needs help.. Major help..

I bet DJ Chark likes Luton!
Luton had a small part in the gridiron heights episode this week
The thing that surprised me about Luton was his mobility. I was under the impression that he had NFL caliber arm strength and good height, but lacked mobility. He's apparently quite mobile.

Surprised me too. Then again, self preservation is a strong motivator.

Height doesn't negate staring down receivers. Hopefully he learned something in that game.

Hopefully. But I have a feeling he's going to have an awful outing on Sunday. I just saw nothing special at all.

At least he’s getting a chance to start in an NFL game. I’m sure it’s a thrill for him.
Yeah height doesn't have that much to do with batted passes. I remember that article from a couple of years ago showing that Brees and Wilson were among the lowest batted down QBs while Big Ben and Bortles were at the top. It's all about the nuance of knowing where the throwing lanes will be.

And also not staring down receivers and telegraphing passes.
A healthy Minshew > Luton

Agreed x1000
All the Green Bay defensive backs will be wearing their extra sticky gloves after watching the game tape on Luton.

Excellent point. Appears we will soon see the rest of the season I don't see many 1 and 6 teams left to play.

Yeah.  Seems like we've seen this before.  Like last year.

And so it continues. Honestly I dont care who is under center. This roster is gutted again.  They keep doing the same stupid things over and over. I dont want change for change sake. I wish we had a foundational plan.

You know like we are going to be this on offense and this on defense. Our draft strategy is to build for those foundations. Our coaches will evaluate and work with the players to do those things need to execute the plan.

We need coaches that teach and know how to follow a build. I dont know who we can get to do that but I know who isn't getting it done.

Minshew's first game last year (KC) was miles ahead of Luton's first game though
