You start ranking from #1 downwards...

Lawrence has always been the best player and it will remain that way - regardless of who is picking #1.

Does it really matter? If we stay at #1 and we take Lawrence, I'll be thrilled. If we fall back to #2 and we take Wilson, I'll be thrilled. Both are franchise QB's that I have ranked so closely that they are almost interchangeable. I just wanna stay at #1, because I don't trust this team to steer clear of Fields at #2. I'm tired of getting let down by this franchise. After 25 years of constant disappointments, we deserve a moral victory.

No no no.... There's no need to back-track now that we're in the driver seat with our franchise.

Wilson is not even close to a sure-thing. Lawrence has been that ever since he set foot at Clemson - and he's CONSISTENTLY proved why.

The fact that you even suggested Wilson as a better player than Lawrence multiple times was honestly asinine man. Just own up to it man, its ok.
Ok I am done being excited until we actually secure the #1 pick, we all know this team can find a way to screw this up so...

please lose please! Colts and Bears should both be playing for something right? I agree I am trying to hold back my excitement for this exact reason.

Agreed.
I mean the Jets just won a game lol

So anything is possible but Bears are playing well and Colts are playing for playoff seeding and the division.
Messing this up would suck the life out of me man..

Agreed, lets just enjoy what we thought was unthinkable.

We deserve more than mere "moral victories."

"Moral victories" are like that win over the Colts at the end of 2011, so this team could learn how to win and take that momentum into 2012, while the Colts never experienced the value of that moral loss and had to suffer the next 7 or so years with that stiff by the name of Andrew Luck.

We deserve the number one overall pick in 2021 and all of the power that it brings to the team.

Power when it comes to the ability to pick the best overall player in the draft.

Power when it comes to the ability to command a huge trade (though I would not trade the pick at all if we have the number one pick and Lawrence is in the draft and he has not stated he does not want to play for the Jaguars).  Barring anything like Lawrence pulling an Elway or Eli Manning, there is no way I deal that pick.  I don't even listen politely to any other GM making inquiry into the trade for that pick.

Power to give the team an entire fan base legitimate hope.  Power to give the ticket sales guy the possibility to see a major spike in ticket sales.

Power to command their choice of GMs and coaches to come here.  With the #1 overall pick, the ton of draft choices and cap space, we'll pretty much have our choice of all available coaching candidates.  Most likely we won't have to settle for second and third tier candidates.

Power to help lure top tier free agents to come here, with the chance to play with Lawrence.

Also, power to see NFN and ESPN's heads explode during their draft coverage, as they decide which of their common practices wins out:  Hyping the #1 overall pick, especially if he's supposedly the best QB prospect to come out since Andrew Luck, or cutting to commercial when the team with the #1 overall pick-Jacksonville- is on the clock?

Well said. Shad Khan needs to tell Marrone to start Luton. Also, Robinson got banged up towards the end of the game and should not play. This team may not have another chance to draft a quarterback like Lawrence for decades and cannot blow this gift the Jets gave our franchise today.

With the Jaguars, it's always waiting for the other shoe to drop.   Odds are they screw up and win one of the last 2.

Yup, both teams are still in the running. Bears aren't officially eliminated from the playoffs yet.

Lets hope the Pats go full tank now that they're eliminated from the playoffs. We need the Jets to beat them in week 17.

That is what I am hoping for. Pats have nothing to play for other than better draft position.
Right now, the true worst team in the NFL has the #1 pick. It’s been so obvious for weeks now the Jets have been deliberately tanking that it’s been a joke. People sit there and say, “but that makes no sense why would coaches tank?!?!?”, cmon now put it all together... side money. I firmly believe and nobody will change my mind that Gregg Williams threw that game. I don’t think the Jags been deliberately tanking, I think we seriously suck more than anyone else.

Let’s see how it ends.

Gregg Williams threw that game 100%.

I don't care though, I just hope we continue earning the worst-team status the next two games so we secure Lawrence.

The cherry on top would be if the Pats and Belichick decide to stick it to the Jets - doubt it, but you never know.

Pats will only benefit from losing that game. Improves their draft position and helps keep Lawrence out of their Division. It's a win-win for them to lose.
We can be the worst team in NFL history this year. Dont care. Give me Trevor.

Not only to secure the top overall pick for us, but also the first overall pick in each round of the draft.

If 2 teams have the same record, they alternate the draft order in each subsequent round.  For instance, if both the Jaguars and the Jets finish this season 1-15, the Jaguars would have the first pick in the draft, but at the top of the second round, the Jets would have the top pick and the Jaguars would have the second.  Barring any trades, the Jaguars would have the first pick in each odd numbered round, while the Jets would have the top pick in every even round.

If the Jaguars lose out and the Jets win a game, then the Jaguars, having the worst overall record all alone, would keep the first pick in each round all to themselves, but for any trade.

Make no mistake, I would be happy if we wound up tied with the Jets and we got the #1 overall pick and alternated the top two spots in each subsequent round.  Trevor Lawrence is the key to this draft for us.

But I would rather have the top overall pick in every round.  Having the top pick at the start of day two could give us some more flexibility.  Usually quite a few trade offers for that pick.  If we could manage to add a couple of other mid round picks, or a first next year, I'd like that.

If you have doubts that Sam Darnold will amount o anything and you think Lawrence will manage to be a star, then I would imagine pretty miserable....or just like every other day as a Jets fan.

But I think the Jets can save him and be much more effective offensively without the #1 pick and go a long way to turning their offense around.

If they stay at 2 and draft Sewell and pair him with Becton, they will have two huge and athletic bookend tackles to fuel a power running game and give added protection for Darnold.  After then, they could add another receiver, plug in a decent interior OL or two and get a RB, they will be a threat to many defenses.
