Denver with Elway, Indy with Manning and Luck and possibly Burrow with Cincinnati. All small markets but appear relatively big because of their QB and the success they had.

Bullseye said it best a few days ago but the buzz around the city would be enormous. The media exposure, the tickets sales, the game day experience.... it can all change in 2 weeks.

Now will the team still have work to do? No doubt about it. OLine. TE. Defense. All need work. But hitting on a franchise QB has been and always will be the biggest piece to the puzzle.

I have listened to a lot of podcasts to hear the reaction to the Jets win so forgive me if I am wrong, but I believe it was on the Schefter podcast he said Lawrence to the Jags would be worth over a billion dollars economically to the Jags. I don't know how they quantified it, but I agree the huge boon to the city is an overlooked important aspect to losing these next two games as well.
I mean. Just look at it logically.

If Lawerence is as advertised, more prime time games on Sunday and Monday night. Playoff games. More fans in the stands and in the streets. More opposing fans coming to games. It could jump start a winning culture with the right coach and GM. Jersey sales. New fans like kids who jump on the winning bandwagon. I live in MD and the amount of Mahomes, Steph Curry and Wilson jerseys are nuts.

It jump starts everything. Does it fix it right away? No and no one is claiming that. But it certainly helps the process go a little smoother and a little quicker.
I see a lot of people people in the media, probably Jets fans, saying how bad it would be for the NFL to have Lawrence go to Jacksonville. Really? Was it bad for Brett Farve and Aaron Rodgers to be stars in Green Bay? Was it bad for Terry Bradshaw to go to Pittsburgh? What about Peyton Manning and Andrew Luck being drafted by the Colts? If anything, it's a good thing for stars to go to small market teams. It elevates the profile of all teams in the NFL and can create larger fan bases to the NFL. People who may have never watched Jaguars football before could all of a sudden become fans, just because of one star player and if that happens, that can create more revenue for not only the team, but the NFL overall. It also creates more diversity in the league and that should all be viewed as a positive.

I predict that Trevor Lawrence Jaguars jersey's (please God, let it be) will be the #1 jersey sold in the NFL next year. Not just to people in Jacksonville, but worldwide. That only helps the league.

I really don't understand your logic here. You question everyone else's fandom for wanting to lose the last two games? You do realize that by losing the last two, we could change the trajectory of this team for the next decade, maybe longer? We simply want a brighter future for this team. Something to actually look forward to, which is something we haven't had in many, many years.

...

Look carefully at the quote that I was referencing, specifically the part in bold.

Seriously.  This came from a guy who says that "you can't call yourself a fan unless you want them to lose".  After 1 win and 2 or 3 losses he's ready for the team to lose out to get a higher draft pick.
So this Lawrence guy is not only the best thing since Peyton Manning, he's also going to bring prime time games and billions of dollars?   Laughing

He doesn't even have to be good for the economic part to have an impact. The day after we draft him the ticket sales teams phones will be ringing off the hook. Even if he's a bust the city will see a significant impact from it for a few years.

Don’t you have a cloud to go yell at?

Lawerence ends up being good. Jags end up being good. Good teams get prime time  games..... is that such a hard concept?
I can't bring myself to actually root for my team to lose. Nor will I go so far as cheer for the Bears to win during the heat of the game but losing will definitely come with a very bright upside that I won't complain about.

Yes, don't be surprised if we get prime time games next season just to showcase Lawrence to everyone.

You and JIB can go watch the game together.

ARob and Montgomery TO THE HOUSE!

The Bengals got a Monday Night game. The Bengals.....
If I'm Chark or any receiver or tight end that knows they will be here next year I'm not putting much effort into routes. They have to long for a highly skilled QB. Will their DNA allow them to sacrifice short term? It rubs against the grain of every fiber that alpha types possess.

We need success, in Jacksonville.

We are so so long overdue.

You call yourself a "fan"?  No "ifs ands or butts"?

Absolutely.... but it wasn’t just for Tlaw, I wanted the staff gone as well. I’ve seen enough the last two years to know they needed to be replaced.

I’ve rooted for the Jags to win for 20+ years. Know when to hold em, know when to fold em. This year we needed to fold em.

I think you need to reassess your risk to reward analysis. You are the only one I have come across that believes winning these last two games is worth more than taking a “risk” on TLaw. It’s very hard to understand where you are coming from. Especially when you combine this assessment with certain rhetoric used recently by the owner regarding Lot J....games disappearing to London. If you’re a real fan- you have to be wondering what is going to happen if this organization doesn’t turn around and soon!
There’s been many years the team was 2-x or 3-x and I’ve seen many on here wanting them to lose for a higher pick and I wanted to see them win. However, this year, currently sitting with #1 pick overall changes that. I don’t watch college and this Trevor kid has been everywhere I look. If this kid is half of what I’ve been hearing about then we should be in for some fun. If they end up with him, I agree ST sales will go on the rise. And not because of like last time when some argued for Teebs, but a legit QB. Couple that with a good coach and we can possibly be talking playoffs year in and out as opposed to draft each year around this time. You’ve got to crack an egg to make an omelette. Unless you buy Egg Beaters brand of course. There are often times in our lives we do something that isn’t fun or what we really want to do for the greater good of our future. Maybe Lawrence doesn’t pan out...but I’d rather find out with him than without him.

Winning will help save the franchise. I personally don’t give a crap about respect and prime time games. I should have added that.

NH3...
If the Jets lose out and we win one of the next two, I equate that to: “hey! I finally got laid!!! But I got herpes”.

We will get a prime time game right away because the Nation wants to see the #1 pick play.

Just show me [BLEEP] in seats and a competitive team.  I don’t give a [BLEEP] about national recognition and the day or time we play.

I'd equate it to getting a very rare and deadly strain of herpes that would cause a long and painful death within a year and finding out the chick you were with used to be a man.

That would be worse, my friend.  I may have forgotten just how bad it was being a Jag fan.  We’re used to pain and agony.  But losing out on TL while in our grasps would be even worse.  It’s a good thing this team has prepped us for it over the years.
This would be a Jags message board first if they get the #1 pick. Everyone agreeing on taking Lawerence.

Except, I’m sure someone still thinks Minshew is a franchise guy and would take Sewell.
