Herm Edwards had it right.
Are you trying to win 2 meaningless games at the end of a long long long lost season, or are you trying to win Super Bowls (which typically involves winning a lot more than our current level) by positioning yourself to get a franchise QB?
You make it seem as if drafting superior players precludes the team and its players from trying to win.
Correct me if I am wrong, but aren't you among those who want Marrone fired?
Why?
He's been trying to win...right? He's professional, right?
So why fire him or any other former coach or GM who tried to win and was professional, but failed miserably?
You could make the argument that by trading away guys like Ramsey, Ngakoue, Campbell and Bouye, the organization is not trying to win. Their efforts to not win were pronounced that the team is on the verge of having the worst record in team history.
If so, then why does your loyalty to the team persist?
I'm pretty indifferent regarding Marrone. I don't necessarily "want" him to get fired, but I expect it. It's a results-based business and he hasn't produced acceptable results.
I still would like to see the team win and couldn't care less about the #1 draft pick.

If you dont care about getting Trevor Lawrence, you really don't care to much about winning, kind of an oxymoron
I hate seeing this team lose as well, but TLaw is now considered "low hanging fruit".. If we let the Jets pick him before we do, then we go without eating, again..
Drafting Lawerence allows this team to make a no brainer selection. They’re much better at drafting when they don’t have to think (Ramsey, Josh Allen). But when you make them think?! It becomes a disaster.
Justifying missing out on a generational QB with the 1st pick because we might not have a winning record the next year or win a SB immediately is some 2020 logic.

I really like Lawrence and Wilson. Picking at 1 guarantees we pick Lawrence, picking at 2 doesn't guarantee we pick Wilson and that thought doesn't sit easy with me. That is why I rather stick at 1 and draft Lawrence and then take a risk of picking a QB at 2.

This is much more of a no brainer than Ramsey and Allen. The Ramsey draft you had guys like Stanley and Buckner, Allen draft you had Hockenson and Oliver. The gap is enormous here imo between 1 and 2 and would be one of the most no brainer picks of All time.. You have a shot at an one of the best QB prospects ever to a franchise who has been starving for a great QB since Burnell.

I also don’t want to spend the next 6 months arguing in circles about if the Jags should take Wilson or Fields.... it’s been bad enough the last few weeks.

It is just as bad on Facebook, lol. So yes, I don't want to go through that either. Especially if we win a meaningless game and lose out on Lawrence.

Oh Facebook is the worst of all social media. Haven’t been on there in about 10 years.
I can only imagine how bad it is right now.

I like some things the Wilson does, but cmon man. When you look at the 2 as prospects, it's not close. Can you name 1 thing Wilson has over Lawrence? There isn't any, from traits, to experience, to wins.
These next 2 Jags games are 2 of the biggest games in franchise history. Easily the 2 biggest regular season games in franchise history

I wasn't comparing Wilson to Lawrence. I just said I like both of them and picking 1 is a no brainer with Lawrence and if we are at 2 we have to choose between Wilson and Fields. And in that scenario give me Wilson all day long.

If for whatever reason we pick at 2 it wouldn't shock me if we took Sewell, hopefully we don't have to put our self in that position though
I think I feel nervous about the next two games more than I did for the Jags/Pats playoff game.

Lol not sure if I would go that far for myself but I’m certainly nervous.
More nervous about the Bears game than Colts. Colts have been playing really well. Bears have Trubisky and that’s the scary part.

I guess I didn’t really expect us to be the Pats in New England. I’m viewing this as an opportunity to be relevant for the next 15 years. This franchise seems to be dying and we just got a miracle gift dropped on our front door.
That being said, I fully expect the Jags to screw this up somehow...

Normally my man, I'm with you... When it looked like the Jets weren't going to win a game at all I would have taken a win on any Sunday. Cuz to me #2 or #5 is all the same. But now that we have the #1 pick with a guy like Lawrence right there... Well I don't want to see the players give up, I don't want the coaches to purposefully tank but I'm okay with us losing the last two.
No hyperbole but I think drafting Lawrence can save this franchise. Just find some decent coaches and lots of people will tune in to watch our brand new toy.
Don't be surprised if we're on SNF during next season too and maybe someone else will get enough Pro Bowl votes from that exposure.

Thats how most of us are. Its a first for me as well and a lot of us have said the same thing. Some want to tank or lose every year for 3rd string QBs or a back up QB. But this is the rare year that it is worth it to lose the last 2 games for one of the best QB prospects ever

Nah, I want to see us lose out, get pick 1 and trade it away for future picks. That's where the juiciest schadenfreude lies.
