Congratulations on winning the race to #1. There’s a lot of talk on the Jets forum as to what the Jags are going to do, and whether the HC search was going to potentially influence the pick being Fields and not Lawrence.

I was just curious as to what you guys thought, and whether you think it’s a sure fire thing (as the NFL beat writers believe) that Lawrence ends up at the Jags.

Good luck next season.

Welcome to the board.  But Im sorry about your loss(win).  But we’re the Jags.  We totally can [BLEEP] this up.  We often find a way to do so.  Hopefully there is no discussion whether they draft TL or not.  I would hope it’s a foregone conclusion we’d take TL.  But there’s that little sliver of hope that the Jags will Jag it up. So if you’re wanting Lawrence, I’d give you guys a 5% chance of getting him.  I’m an idiot, but other smarter people will chime in for sure. But stick around after the fact.  We’re a cool bunch.

Appreciate the welcome, thanks. I’ve got to be honest, the whole “Lawrence #1” seems to have been written for three years +, but I like what I see from Fields and/or Wilson. We’ll move on from Darnold, the poor sod, either way.

The games I’ve watched Lawrence, he’s rarely actually blown me away, certainly not more than Fields did last week. Lawrence feels and looks like the perfect QB, but without a good offensive line, looks quite ordinary at times.

Still, I’d be delighted if you took Fields instead!

My perception based on what I know (from a fan's perspective), I'd say there's a 100% chance the pick is Lawrence.

I don’t watch college ball.  If I were to choose based off last week’s game I’d choose Fields as well. But considering the unanimous hype I’ve heard the last year or two, I’d be taking Lawrence too.  Seems like he’s a good solid QB at worst.  Even if he’s even half the QB he’s hyped up to be, we’d have the best QB our franchise has had in a while or ever.  I do wish you guys the best.  We, around here, definitely know what losing feels like.  Best of luck to the Jets going forward, unless it’s against the Jags, of course.

There is always a chance the Jaguars make the wrong selection, mostly #BecauseJaguars. That being said, I think a lot of the 'controversy' is due to the recency bias towards Justin Field's performance. Lawrence is the pick, in my opinion.

Not so fast.

It isn't guaranteed you guys have given up on Darnold. Is he bad, or were the coaches and system the culprits?

As I heard one pundit say, think of it this way: Is Darnold better in the NFL than Fields?

There's a knee-jerk response and a well thought out response.

I’m going to assume since he’s a Jet fan on a Jag board that he is in tune with the franchise he supports.  Though, you bring up good points, I’d imagine even us wouldn’t be thinking of Darnold as a guy to build around. That being said, Darnold may not be the sole problem or even the biggest problem.  They will definitely have choices to make with that #2 pick.  I’m glad ours is the easy one.

It should be a 100% chance, but you have to remember this is the Jags we are talking about here, so I'll give it a 98% chance.

There's always a chance they use that 2% and find some way to Jag this situation up and not draft him.

Nothing personal against the Jets fan, but I don't feel inclined to give you any hope. I'm not inclined to bash my team and engage in gloom and doom about how this team will get it wrong with this pick. Right now, this day represents a fresh start for my favorite team, the Jacksonville Jaguars. Find your solace at someone else's expense.

It’s official!

DID WE ALL JUST BECOME BEST FRIENDS ????
I remember watching the National Championship game a couple of years ago and said to myself that whatever team ends up with Lawrence is gonna be lucky

Glad it's us, and I am hoping it all works out

Honesrly it is a weird feeling this optimism. It really could be the right GM and coach with the best QB in years drafted to change what because jaguars means. It is totally possible a new stadium will be the house that Trevor builds.

I sure hope so.
I fully expect the house to be packed out every Sunday for the foreseeable future. TLaw probably gonna build a new stadium.

This trophy could very well make it's way down here to Jax in the near future.

It's a fair question. You do have to weigh up the potential of a Fields, vs the actuality of Sam Darnold. It certainly isn't wrong to say the Jets have catastrophically failed Sam Darnold at every possible position, skill group and coaching. But because of that, he looks completely shot. He's making the same mistakes in Year 3 that he made in game 1. He flashes with talent but will make a costly decision and turn the ball over once or twice a game. What doesn't help his case is that this would be year 4, and we'd have to choose to pay him his $25m 5th year option - not happening.

Darnold needs a clean break in a different environment, which he'll get, and I wish him the best. I do hope he succeeds, but it certainly won't be in New Jersey.

I'm not a Fields fan at all. If you guys end up selecting him, I believe it will be a HUGE mistake. If I were the Jets, I'd easily select Zach Wilson. I have him on par with Lawrence. Draft him and give him another receiver, a RB and another O-Linemen or two, a good Offensive Coordinator and I believe the Jets will be just fine for the future. Before the Jags got into the #1 position, I was clamoring for us to take Wilson. I believe he and Lawrence are gonna be stars.

My expectations is an above average starting QB. What about you, anyone else?

He's gonna build us a shiny new stadium, find gold in the St. John's river and throw eleventy billion touchdowns in his first season game.

Anything less is justification to fire the GM, HC, owner, and mayor.

Could be the most important pick in our history. Sounds like hyperbole but it is that important. If he turns into a bust it will absolutely crush what remains of the fan base. No pressure Trevor! Lol.

While this is very true, I do believe that our fanbase is incredibly impatient, and deems most picks a bust before they have a chance to show what they can do.
