If Toney played at Arkansas, would he be the standard everyone is using to measure the rest of the class? Not trying to be snarky, but it seems like a lot around here are super into him, and I just didn't see it in him. Seemed like his best ball was when Pitts was drawing all the attention on the field. I dunno.

Toney is going to be a good pro player in my opinion, and I would love to have him.  On the other hand, I have read that statistically, WRs drafted in the 2nd round do almost exactly as well as WRs drafted in the first round.  That gives me some second thoughts about drafting a WR in the first round.
I'm relying on you guys to give me most of my opinions Smile

Toney scares me. He doesn't play as fast as he thinks he does, and he's going to get caught a lot more often in the pros than he did in college. Third round? Fantastic! Earlier than that, not so much.

The other one that scares me is the CB that had back surgery... Farley is it? A friend of mine had had surgery to repair a herniated disc, and those things just don't heal as strong as they were pre-injury. He finally had spinal fusion surgery after herniating the same disc in the same spot for the third time. I wouldn't touch Farley.

I think I could get excited for Moehrig. Is he one of the supposed 'no-brainers' though? The best defenses usually have at least one superior safety.
would any of you trade both round 2 picks to move up in number one to get Pitts?

That wouldn't do it at all. It would take at least 3 first round picks and then some, to move up to #4, which is where you would have to go. That's way too much.
The players I'd be most excited to see the Jaguars pick are:

1(25) - Anyone of Jaelynn Phillips, Zaven Collins, Christian Darrisaw or Christian Barmore

2(33)- Elijah Moore, Liam Eichenberg or Trevon Moehrig

2(45)- Pat Freirmuth

3(65)- Elijah Molden, Richie Grant

Other guys I'd love are Michael Carter, Kenneth Gainwell, Alim McNeil , Dynami Brown and Payton Turner.

On the other hand, I'd be most disappointed if the Jaguars do not come out of draft weekend with a starting tight end, a speedy receiver, another edge rusher and change of pace back.

A very good list.  I might include Teven Jenkins somewhere in there.

This looks a lot like mine.  Jevon Holland in the 3 spot and replace Eichenberg with Jenkins

I'd be fine with Jenkins at pick 33. I wouldn't take him ahead of my other choices at 25 since he may fit best at right tackle. I do expect at least one of my guys at 25 to be on the board when the Jaguars pick. Phillips may have the biggest upside , but is also the riskiest pick due to health issues.

Holland is also a very good choice. MJD loves him at 25 for the Jags (too high for me).
I like Jenkins. A big part of playing a good offensive linemen is attitude. This kid is nasty and I like it!

I am seeing no way Jenkins lasts to us at 25 now.  Lots of teams above us could use him.  Now that I know the Steelers have to replace BOTH of their Ts (Villanueva is a FA and RT Marcus Gilbert is retiring), I can't see Jenkins being there at 25.

Of course, if he IS there for us, I would hope we'd take him.

I just don't see it anymore.

MJD thinks he is the best defensive player in the draft
I finally got around to watching some Holland and I am not convinced that he isn't the best safety in the draft...neck and neck with Moehrig and considerably more versatile. I think he was a very good slot and he has the size and athleticism to be an outside corner if a team wanted him to be.

I have been impressed with his speed, hands and range.  I was beginning to think I was alone in that assessment.

Nah if anything I'm late to the party. I didn't really get to get to the opt out guys this year.

Of course I would, except for the fact that you would need so, so much more than 33 and 45.

If any team is that dumb, well, I'm just the kind of guy who would grant them the opportunity to prove their stupidity. I'm a pleaser like that.

Silly OLM, thinking this was a question to be taken seriously.

Obvious Ronster is inebriated.

Holland might be more athletic than Moehrig but Moehrig is the better football player.  I want the best football player not the beat athlete.  With that said, Holland is my 2nd favorite safety in the draft and if we don't get Moehrig by pick 45 I'm I'd be happy with Holland there

I don't see either lasting until 45.
I'm ok with LB (JOK or Collins) or Safety (Moehrig) or DT (Barmore)

If we decide to go fast on O, then WRs Toney or Moore may be the way to go but one of them will likely be available at the top of Round 2.

I don't see JOK as a scheme fit at all, unless you put him at S.  I don't want to spend a 1st round pick on a project.

Yes, the LB to S switch has worked in the past (Carnell Lake and Darren Woodson), but they were both 2nd round picks.

Agreed. I believe his best fit is as a WLB in a 4-3 scheme. He doesn't belong in a 3-4 at all.
