I'm neither. I was actually a little against the signing initially but like you willing to see how it plays out. Just find it funny how people are holier-than-thou when it comes to the guy because they're mad he abandoned their program.

... I'm not a fan of either UF or Ohio State ..

I AM a fan of the Jacksonville Jaguars... and the scumbag is now OUR scumbag. And he IS a scumbag - that's who he is and who he's always been. To dispute that is quite frankly laughable. And he's been ignoring the rules his entire life, of course it's going to continue here.

I don't understand the dismissal of his being a complete piece of garbage - we don't dismiss his being a good coach.

Yep, Hayes is another disgruntled UF alum. No surprise he doesn't like the guy.

The greater surprise that anyone would.

The biggest issue people seem to have with the guy is he had some bad character guys on his roster and he left programs after being wildly successful. Why would that give rise to such passionate hatred? There's got to be more to it.  Belichick is worse from a character standpoint and people don't seem to hate him with nearly the same fervor.

He left UF not because of his success - because of the incoming failure. And he lied and claimed a health issue.

He got kicked out of Ohio State because he couldn't stop fighting with the administration.

That's not the same picture you're painting.. But those are the facts.

Those are not facts, those are your opinion. He didn't lie about his health, he had an operation at one point to help him with it.  Now THAT is a fact.
An awful lot of judginess going on here. Yes, I know that's a word because I typed it. Smile

See this what I don't understand.. The dude had legitimate health concerns and some of these 'people' completely overlook that fact as if it never existed..

Except he has no experience at the NFL level...

this is no guarantee... so you're taking all the bad (and boy there's a lot) for the potential maybe good. And a blown up franchise after he abandons it.

If you're looking for any kind of guarantee in the NFL, you're in for disappointment.. Let Tommy Boy tell you about guarantees..

Might as well see what he can do, it's not like this franchise could fall that much further from last season.

The talking heads started the rumor that somebody ratted out the teams. There was no contact and the videos on YouTube showed there was hand work and bump and run so no one needed to rat anyone out it was right there on the video and I doubt anybody ratted them out.

There was an NFLPA rep attending a Jaguars OTA practice session.

The only explanation is the hate from being jilted must still be really strong.

Esophageal Spasms and Migraines that just happen to show up when he needs a reason to bail on a sinking ship.

Between the Carlos Hyde situation and the Zach Smith situation I have nothing but disgust for him.
So if you think the past is prologue, meaning that because he's had scandals in the past, he will have scandals in the future, then it would logically follow, that if, again, past is prologue, he's had championships in the past so he will have championships in the future.

The detractors cherry-pick the problems he's had in the past, and say, "this is Urban Meyer." The supporters cherry-pick the successes he's had in the past and say, "this is Urban Meyer."

Personally, I am a naturally optimistic person, at least I try to be. So I am optimistic.

And in a few years when he's done it again you'll be up in arms about it.

He's still who he is, but he's not coaching the little leagues anymore. I'd say the chances of him having more punishments for breaking rules is much more likely than him winning any championships. The most surprising thing would be him still being the coach here in five years.
