I wonder what vaccine they are getting.  At their age I would prefer the J&J, I think, despite the potential blood clotting issues.  Easier to treat and less enduring than the heart inflammation with Pfizer and Moderna.

When I go to work, I sit in a 8x8 box and touch a whole bunch of things that generally I am the only person to touch. For the shieldball employees, going to work involves a lot closer contact, exchange of fluids, and much more demanding respiratory conditioning.

If what is circulating is something that circumvents the existing countermeasure, why would we want to encourage a potential spread?
Why didn't you hide from the world before now? Everything in this world can kill you. There really isn't anything special about how COVID works. The reactions are different and much more over the political top.

I have lung issues and get pneumonia multiple times a year, covid would be one more issue to deal with in life.

I am comfortable enough in my own mortality that I do not need to live in fear of trees falling on my house (very real possibility), a city bus careening into a crowd in which I stand (not realistic) or anything in between.

Do I worry about my wife's elderly parents getting sick from this and very bad things resulting? A bit. On the same token, they've made choices with which they are comfortable, and acknowledge the risk and consequence associated. Both work in jobs that involve significant amounts of contact with the public. Their potential for infection or infecting is magnitudes higher than the risk I take occupy my cube for 9 hours a day.

The question was whether I believed that testing players (all players, mind you) had merit. I said yes. It has a whole lot less to do with any wish I have to live in a bubble (as you would characterize me apparently) than it does with being yet another measure to avoid further spread. If we spend the first four months of the season testing everyone, and find that 95% of the vaccinated players are testing negative, then maybe revisit the issue and make a more informed decision.

ounce of prevention, right?

No problem Mikey, I am not trying to single you out. I appreciate the respectful discord. It really is about accepting risk and living life. Why would I miss a last chance to see the ones I love because of fear. I am not guaranteed tomorrow. This doesn't mean that I will act irresponsible and break long standing measures.
Finally they are in pads today.

Yes!!!
Any word on how CJ has looked?

Just surprised that it's him of all people due to all the negativity surrounding him. Like Bullseye said in another thread: "he just went from the Non football Injury list to the Covid 19 list, Hasn't practiced a snap yet, and if unvaccinated, will have to sit out another ten (10) days. That means he will have missed the first two weeks of camp plus the scrimmage."

What's not to understand? It's just unfortunate for him and this team.
