Just watched replay of game-winning FG. Jawan Taylor is walking towards the sideline, away from celebrating teammates; zero emotion. Odd, very odd. Am I missing something?

Returners move toward a bouncing ball because if they get a room-service bounce, it's very easy to field it and save your team from being pinned on the goal line.   I see it all the time, and it's a good play.   I would never tell them not to do that.

I suspect Agnew may have decided to make a return and the bounce of the ball took him by surprise. Fortunately it bounced in such a way that he wasn't able to get his hands on it. I agree that returners should steer clear of the ball in that situation most of the time.

If the Jags had lost, my biggest gripe would have been going for it on 4th down instead of kicking a field goal to go up 7.

Its certainly nice to enjoy a victory Monday. Wasnt sure they were still a thing!! Im so happy we finally won one, the team really needed this result and while it was ugly at times and we tried to grab that L at times, a win is a win.

Still plenty to fix and improve but is this the game that turns us around a bit and something to build on?

Lol, exactly! Our thing is we only make the playoffs in years ending in 7. We will call this winning once every 399 days Plan B.

Could you imagine if they started blowing any play dead where the untouched receiver landed in a fetal position? No thanks.

That is the shadow of the ball passing over his finger.  The other angle tells a different story.

Agnew definitely touched that football and it should have been a Dolphins TD.

First off, we get enough calls against us, so if they went our way for once...I don't give a [BLEEP].

But with that, I'm not sure if it was definite Agnew touched the ball.

That's the thing, as it was on the catch/not catch ruling. The call on the field was "not touched/not caught", and the burden of proof became finding undeniable footage of the opposite happening, and in neither case was that going to happen.

I can't say "definitely". Possibly? maybe. but that was also only one angle, the ball never changed rotation, and the other angle looked a lot further from any contact being plausible.

I think it's situational interpretation of the rule, but I agree that the ball carrier should not be able to just fall on the ground and expect the play to be over. Hell, why go to the ground even, just look at the ref and yell "Stop! Stop!" like waving for a fair catch.

coach can tell me whatever the heck he wants, but until the player is downed by contact or demonstrates self-downing, ref mikey isn't blowing a whistle.

I vaguely remember a discussion of this rule a couple of years ago and I thought it was a little weird at the time. 

I wonder if this is like a few other in-game situations we've all seen - when a coach or QB can go to an official and say "watch for the quick T.O."  to ensure they get it in time. 

Weird rule. But kudos to our staff for taking advantage of it. One of the very few things I can praise them for in 6 games.
