Killed the dog riding with me woman too, as if killing the woman wasn't bad enough.

What gets me is it always seems like the drunk driver is the one who escapes unscathed and it's the innocent people who always get killed. Life isn't fair sometimes.

1.  They don't trust their utilization of the service will be confidential, and many are fearful their use of the service will be used against them in contract negotiations.  Of course, accidents like this preclude many future negotiations.

2.  The players earn a lot of money and buy nice cars.  In their minds, what's the point in buying the nice cars if they can't drive them?  The absurdity of this mindset is self evident.

Hmmph
1. Then Uber, Lyft, or Taxi.
2. This should not even be a discussion. Drive your over priced mid life crisis car at 3pm sober, not 3am drunk.
If he/they really want to waste so much money, don't buy a [BLEEP] Vette, pay for a chauffeur.

They have so many resources beyond their own money to use.

He doesn't deserve to see the light of day.

What'd Dante Stallworth get back in the day? Rich people get by. He'll serve a year get a year or two probation.
Only difference is the league is heavier handed so he may not play again the way Stallworth did

We'd be looking at closer to the 20 than the 2 for sure.
Remember Leonard Little?

Because drunk people don't brace for impact or tense or anything. They're just wasted so they kinda just float around... it's people that see it coming, sober, that tense and then die.

Yep.  Another tragedy.

Agreed; it's amazing how many drunk drivers escape horrific accidents with sometimes just bruises and cuts. As far as the physics of an auto accident are concerned, I wonder if there is any logical reason?
CNN article states the prosecutor claims Ruggs was traveling at 156 mph with a blood alcohol level over 2x legal limit.

Sounds like she burned alive. Pretty awful.

Cynical side of me thinks that if he gets out of jail while still young enough to play in the NFL, some team will sign him. There are no morals in the NFL as long as someone can help you win.

He was driving a Corvette. The entire body is made of fiberglass. How did that car not completely shatter on impact? Corvettes are beautiful cars, but they are essentially "death traps" when it comes to serious car accidents, especially at 156 mph. I don't care how much alcohol makes you loose and limber when you are in a car crash, I don't know how anyone could survive a 156 mph car wreck in a fiberglass Corvette.
It's just so tragic to see young lives wasted, whether it be death or a prison cell.
I just watched the tmz video. Crazy stuff with his girlfriend and him interacting after the crash

Shaking my head in dismay.

This is one of many reasons why I don't drink.

Same with me.  I know that my judgment is affected by alcohol, far below the consensus legal limit.

I think that's how that quote goes.

I dunno. It's crazy

Except in this case it seems the woman (and her dog) died due to the fire that engulfed her car. Autopsy might prove different but that was the prevailing opinion. I'd rather die on impact than burn.

Little killed a woman by driving drunk and got 4 years probation plus community service. That was in 1998, so I expect Ruggs will get the minimum mandatory and be back on the field in a couple years.

1998 was a different world though.

Was Little traveling at 156 MPH?

The speed Ruggs was going at in the area where the crash happened is/should be huge in this case. There's driving intoxicated and then there's driving like a complete dumb [BLEEP] while intoxicated.

Those speeds are ridiculous for even a freeway and it's down right nuts for where the crash happened. I read that the speed limit is 45 MPH in the area where the crash happened. The crash happened near an intersection. There's absolutely no reason dude should have been going 150+ MPH on those streets.
^^ yes hes lucky to walk away from that and his passenger.

unless the frame is also made of fiberglass, that would be my guess why the car did not disintegrate and why Ruggs is still breathing.

How fast do you think IndyCar vehicles are travelling when they smack into walls or other vehicles? Most drivers walk away unscathed, and they have a whole lot less driver compartment to cushion any impacts.
