Lawrence is probably the most mobile QB we’ve ever had. He can bolt out of a collapsing pocket and extend a play, and does so frequently. Unfortunately, he often doesn’t have any targets available, which leads to his next most admirable trait of getting rid of the ball when all hope is lost. How many times did we see Gabbert and Minshew go down with the ball like weak prey to a pack of predators rather than chuck it?
Lawrence’s ability to minimize the damage shows he’s mentally tough and fully aware of this team’s dire talent situation. I’m sure he completely expected disappointment and hopelessness in his first season with a team which picked first in the draft.

More mobile than Brunell and Garrard? More mobile than Bortles (other flaws aside)? He can scramble a bit and has some speed when he gets going but his mobility compared to other NFL QBs is pretty average.

I think he has a way better feel for the pocket and is more intelligent than most of the guys you mention here though.

Boom.  Exactly.  If people are comparing him to Gabbert they are blind or have a very short memory.  Gabbert had all the physical tools in the world.  His problem was between the ears.  He was a wuss.

What exactly was a physical tool to you? Because last I recall the man threw a deep pass like a punt. His arm strength was not there, nor was the accuracy. Like Trevor early on and in college the man also would throw a dirt ball out of fear from a non existent pass rush, he was "seeing ghost" if you will much like our friend Sam Darnold. Another QB I said pre-draft was a blake bortles clone and damn if I wasn't dead on the head with that prediction as well.

You weren't paying attention then.

Arm strength/velocity was not a problem for Gabbert. Night and day different from Bortles in terms of arm talent.

Say what?  You have pretty poor recollection.

And Trevor throws the ball in the dirt from a 'non-existant pass rush'?  LOL.  If anything he holds the ball too long.

Good God.  And Darnold is a Blake Bortles clone?  Holy [BLEEP], you have some piss-poor analytical skills.

My "Analytical skills" have been pretty dead on and Sam Darnold has been about as close to Blake Bortles as any QB i've ever seen. And yeah, incase you haven't been watching the games this year Trevor has put balls in the ground after running from the pass rush. He's also overthrown WRs for ints/incompletions in the same manner.

These are two completely different things...  Is Trevor bailing on a non-existent pass rush, or is he throwing the ball in the dirt while running from an actual pass rush?

Sam Darnold isn't even close to Bortles in skill set. They have completely different attributes.

Why should I use my brain when it's obvious yours and your eyes aren't functional?

Could not disagree more. He is above average mobility for sure. He is not Lamar Jackson, but he is more mobile than bortles . I would not say he is more mobile than Brunell in his prime though.

Bortles was very mobile, in fact he was a genuine running QB, it was one of the only things he could actually do well and consistently. From that standpoint, he was probably more mobile than Brunell in his prime although not as quick as Brunell, especially after the knee injury.  For pocket mobility, Trevor is probably closest to Leftwich. Kinda gangly, tall and skinny but both have/had the ability to slide around the pocket and can/could get up a head of steam if you give them the chance. In a 40 yard dash, I'd give Trevor a bit of an edge though.

You may be right about his arm strength, but in the multiple years I watched him play I either missed it or he never showed it. At least not in-game.

Bortles was pretty slow but he was good when he took off. Lawrence slides so early it feels weird after watching Blake try to run people over at times lmao

He (and to be fair) has had no protection in the NFL yet, which has lead him to sometimes run out and throw an errant pass even when he didn't need to. He did this in college more often where his protection was very good.

I agree. Some of these posters are so in love with Lawrence that in their eyes he is the best at everything. Has Lawrence had a 10 yard run?

The fastest Jaguar Qb is between Brunel before the knee injury or Garrard.

Yes he has had over a 10 yard run.

Garrard  4.83
Brunell  4.7
Lawrence 4.7
 Bortles 4.93
You know things are bad when we're hashing out historical stats on QB mobility for a team that has never truly featured QB runs in their offense.

Sadder still, is that "Lawrence slides too soon" is considered by anyone to be a slight on a rookie #1 pick.
It just tells me he's smarter than several members posting in this thread.

Should we revisit that hypothetical from a couple of months ago where someone asked if it would be better had we wound up getting Wirfs and Jefferson like everyone wanted, but it meant we picked #2 instead of #1 in the draft last year. Damn near everyone said no brainer they would rather have Lawrence, I was on the fence but leaning toward the two proven elite players + choice of 2nd best QB.

So, Lawrence vs Wirfs, Jefferson, not Urban, and our pick of Wilson/Fields/Lance/Mac? I think people might answer differently this time.

The only one of those qbs I would have wanted with hindsight is Mac Jones at a pick other than #1 overall.  But still would not have traded out of the top pick to miss out on Trevor.  I think he's everything you want in a qb.  We could have drafted a tackle and a receiver with our second and third picks rather than who we drafted.  The problem was the judgment of the drafters, not the draft position.
