I'd personally keep Treadwell over Shenault, but either way I wouldn't want them as a starter going into opening day
I don't understand the Treadwell love. For the amount of time he saw the field he had a lot of drops, he also struggled with consistent separation. Shenault has a ton of upside and like someone else said he didn't have the same issues with drops in year one.

We suck, that's why. Treadwell on the Jags is pretty much equivalent to the hottest chick on The Biggest Loser or the least addicted chick at a meth rehab clinic. They may look good in comparison with their peers but when you get them in the outside world, it's not good.

Maybe I have memory loss, but Treadwell definitely wasn't dropping passes as often as guys like Shenault/Oshag. He seemed to build a chemistry with Trevor, I think that's why some of us like him. Shenault has some Yac ability but his hands are booty.

Treadwell was looking better than Jones by the end of the year in my opinion. He was actually getting a little YAC. I can't remember a single catch by Jones where he didn't go down or drop to the ground immediately after the catch.
Shenault looked like he was on a good trajectory when Keenan was here. Wheels really fell off this year though. If he can get his crap back together, I loved watching him beast a bit.
Just looking at the offense right now:
QB- Trevor
RB- ETN, JRob, draft pick
WR- Chark, Godwin (pending Byron), Kirk, Dotson
TE- Arnold, OShag, Draft pick
OL- Little, Norwell, Linder, FA, Neal

Getting Godwin Kirk and Dotson would make me happy enough that I wouldn't even be upset that we took the wrong guy in the first round for like the 9th year out of Shad's 11 drafts.

Can't disagree at all.
I just got a feeling they're going to go Neal even though I would go with Thibs.

Would be insanely stupid to take Neal at #1 unless he's supposed to be an instant top 10 tackle in the league. Thib is the pick if we don't trade out, anything else would be stupid IMO.
Just for the giggles of it (used pff for mock draft)....
Pulled off a trade with Atlanta, acquiring WR Calvin Ridley and pick 1-8, with the Jags giving up picks 1-1 and 3-65. The starting WR corps is explosive and vastly improved. I liked being able to keep LT Little in his natural position, and sign 2 experienced vets in RT Morgan Moses and LG Andrew Norwell for about the same cap money as it would have taken to overpay for Cam Robinson.
Offense:
QB- Lawrence, Beathard
RB- Etienne, Robinson, Armstead, (6) Draft Pick
WR- (T) Calvin Ridley, (FA) DJ Chark, (1) Garrett Wilson, Jones, Shenault, Agnew
TE- Arnold, (FA) David Njoku, Manhertz, Farrell
OT- Little, (FA) Morgan Moses, Taylor
OG- (FA) Norwell, Bartch, (FA) Richardson, Wallace-Simms
OC- Linder, (5) Jarrett Patterson
Defense:
Edge- Allen, (2) Arnold Ebiketie, Smoot, Chaisson, (6) Isaiah Thomas -or- Smith
IDL- Brown, Hamilton, Robertson-Harris, (FA) BJ Hill, (FA) Gotsis, Tufele
LB- Jack, (3) Leo Chenal, Quarterman, Moses
CB- Griffin, Campbell, Ford, (4) Marcus Jones, Claybrooks
S- Jenkins, Cisco, Wingard, Thomas
ST:
P- Cooke
K- Wright -or- (6/7) Cade York
LS- Matiscik
RS- [WR Agnew] and [CB Jones]
Just heard it on 1010 and hadn’t batted this one around yet but Michael Thomas would be a hell of a trade to shoot for since NO is in cap hell.

Oh God. Michael Thomas got injured in 2020 (played half of the season) then sat out all of 2021 after a setback with the ankle surgery.
I think we all had enough with injured WRs dating back to Michael Sims Walker. It's almost like every WR the Jags go after had injury history (Dede Westbrook, Marquise Lee, Shenault, etc.). LOL ... Thomas is set to make $20 million per year through 2024 -- HARD PASS

But Ridley decides hes not mentality ready to play. Jags explosiveness disappeared by week 1. I think it's better to grab the freak from Oregon and we can still get a couple of explosive wrs that the jags need.

I here you but I can’t help but think part of the reason for the “set backs” was the fact he was looking at hill as the QB when Winston went down and suddenly felt a set back coming on.
I could be wrong and I agree it would suck to pay a guy 20 mil to ride the bench, but when he was good he was a top 5 receiver(really top 3) and he is only 28 so there is a lot left in the tank if he gets back to 100%.
I think Etienne will be a nothing in the NFL. Just never saw "it" from him. And now a linsfranc? He's not running away from any NFL talent, even a 320lb DT

Thomas was a fine receiver when healthy, but Brees made him great. Hard to imagine him still having much left in the tank, let alone enough to sacrifice draft picks AND pay him upwards of $20 mil.
This was a question and answer from John Shipleys mailbag. Thoughts on this WR room? Mike Williams would be fantastic and Dotson is ideal at 33.
Q: What's your ideal Jags WR room next year?
A: Mike Williams, Jahan Dotson, Laviska Shenault, Marvin Jones, Marquez Valdes-Scantling and Jamal Agnew. I would add Williams as an X, Dotson as a Z who can play inside, hope you can get the most out of Shenault, and then have Jones around as a veteran presence who can provide depth. Agnew would be mostly depth and a special teams impact, but he is worth a look as a WR4 after the season he had last year. Marquez Valdes-Scantling could be a deep threat specialist to replace DJ Chark, too.

Ideal Jags WR room?
Mike Williams, Chris Olave, D.J. Chark, Michael Gallup, Dai'Jean Dixon, Jamal Agnew. I know signing Mike Williams and having Chris Olave fall to pick #33 are both longshots, but it's my fantasy. I'd still love to re-sign D.J. Chark and having Michael Gallup as a #4 receiver would be great. Dai'Jean Dixon is probably my favorite late round receiver and Jamal Agnew showed me enough last season before he was hurt, to justify his return.

The Chargers have a ton of cap room they aren't letting Williams go. He's guaranteed to get tagged at worst.
Dotson would be awesome of course. Sign one of Chark/Kirk/Gallup to be our 'premier' WR signing, and then one of MVS/Gage/Cedrick Wilson to be a second WR signing. Still not a great WR corps, but a good start considering the options.

Cedrick Wilson is really intriguing. When I watched some Cowboys games, he always seemed to have some juice.
