Dotson would be awesome of course. Sign one of Chark/Kirk/Gallup to be our 'premier' WR signing, and then one of MVS/Gage/Cedrick Wilson to be a second WR signing. Still not a great WR corps, but a good start considering the options.
Cedrick Wilson is really intriguing. When I watched some Cowboys games, he always seemed to have some juice.

He's slot only so he would turn Viska into a bench player or a pure gadget guy, but I think he's much better so I'm ok with that. Kirk and Gallup both have extensive experience inside and outside, so does Dotson. We could put together some really diverse looks if we had a Kirk or Gallup/Chark/Dotson/Wilson core.

Toss in a dual threat TE like Schultz (or more likely an Alie-Cox/Conklin type, everyone knows how often I've pushed for Mo Alie) and we could have everything we need except for the alpha #1 WR at a realistic price tag.

Q: What's your ideal Jags WR room next year?

A: Mike Williams, Jahan Dotson, Laviska Shenault, Marvin Jones, Marquez Valdes-Scantling  and Jamal Agnew.

The Chargers have a ton of cap room they aren't letting Williams go. He's guaranteed to get tagged at worst.

If Williams gets tagged, I'm making a trade for a truly good WR. If Chark/Kirk/Gallup ends up being our "premier" WR signing then we've completely failed. None of those guys are even close to being a #1 WR. In Kirk and Gallup's case, they are more like #3 receivers. We HAVE TO get a #1 WR. If it's not via free agency, we MUST make a trade. Hopefully, we find a really good receiver in the draft as well, but you never can be certain, especially when you know you won't be picking one until at least #33 overall.

Other than Amari, who is the highest paid WR in the league and probably more like a good #2, and Ridley, who might be a legit #1 if he is recovered 100% from his mental issues, what true #1 WRs are out there that could possibly be had in trade?

The only one I can think of is DK Metcalf, there have been rumors (shot down I believe, but still) saying that the Seahawks might consider trading him for a high pick if they can't get him to come to a long term extension by the draft. I'd honestly give #1 overall for DK straight up if he agreed to a long term deal with us. Other than that I think we are stuck with the moderate upgrades I listed.
No thank you on Kirk or Gallup. I'd rather spend the money elsewhere.

Given the cap situations of their teams and/or issues within their teams, I think the following receivers could be had in a trade and would be MASSIVE upgrades over what we have. I could care less about their contracts. We need an influx of talent at WR and I'm willing to pay a high price to get it.

D.K. Metcalfe
Robert Woods
Amari Cooper
Adam Theilen

I want no part of Calvin Ridley. There was a reason he stepped away from football. If you trade for him and he comes back for a short time, only to realize he is better off away from the game........... you're screwed. That's way too risky.

If we can only manage to get someone like Christian Kirk or Michael Gallup as the "#1 receiver" this offseason then we have completely wasted the first two years of Trevor Lawrence's career and it's not gonna look good at all.

I want no part in Thielan. I think he’s cooked.

I’ve heard the Texans may be parting with Cooks though and that would be nice.
I love Woods more than anyone, he's been an underrated rock on my dynasty team for a long time. But he will be over 30, coming off a torn ACL, and signed a pricey extension. He is also more of a good #2 like Amari. Thielen probably was a true WR1 for a few years but he will be 32 and has soft tissue injuries all the time.

Metcalf is the only dude who fits the bill of what you are looking for.

Although not ideal, he'd be a lot better than anything we currently have, but I wouldn't pay too high a price for him.

I'm just looking for distinctly better receivers than what we currently have. Unfortunately, I don't think Gallup is that much better than what we have now and Kirk certainly isn't. There has to be a way to get Lawrence some real targets. Given the fact that we have prayed for a franchise QB for so long, it's amazing how poorly prepared we were to finally get one. Our O-Line was subpar, our receivers and TE's are putrid and if not for finding a gem of a UDFA RB (Robinson,) we would have had no RB either when Lawrence was drafted. God, this team has been run poorly.
The jags should have drafted Metcalf. But ofcourse not. He was too fast and athletic. Hes not the jags type.

Interesting to bring up Chark. Maybe he does re-sign.

I like that news.

Hope they can strike a deal.

With Chris Godwin likely re-signing in Tampa Bay and Mike Williams likely re-signing or getting tagged by the Chargers, Chark is probably our best FA option at this point. Will he want to return though?

At least Doug actually knows some of the player's names, that's a step forward!
