Whatever the reason, they botched this if the Browns could pull it off for a 5th rounder essentially.
If the Jags offer was better Jones would of taken it. I guess we didn't feel like Cooper is worth 20 mil or they want to put that money in the oline

What predictions were wrong besides Leftwich? Maybe I wasn't paying enough attention.
To be fair, a respected Cardinals reporter also had Leftwich pegged for us. I think they were genuinely trying to get him in and offered him a contract but the lack of budge on Adrian Wilson is what made them swerve back to Pederson.

Yeah, I've been following him for a while now and he used to always be the first one to break the Jags news but I don't think the person he knows works in the building anymore. He has been trying to guess a lot late to hit one and he's been missing.

That's pretty much it, he's been getting info from different sources and tweets. Before I think he knew someone in the building, he use to call almost every move before it was public. He hasn't done that in a while

He was pretty spot on up until Leftwich and we've literally had nothing happen except for Hyde being released since then.

I guess we will see in a few days
The free agent WR class is dismal. Christian Kirk is the only legit upgrade without injury concerns. I wouldn’t want to waste draft capital either on an aging wideout. The draft is deep this year. I see the strategy taking shape. Nab a few offensive and defensive line free agents, then draft 3-4 receivers and TEs after Hutch.

The Pederson hire, he said it was going to Bissacia

If we get Kirk, he will be a really good slot for us, Jones has proven to be a decent number 2, sign Ertz, and draft Watson at 33. Watson has everything to be that number 1 WR

If Kirk is the top WR available then I'd rather pass on signing any free agent WR's. I don't see him as an upgrade at all. Instead, lets go after a couple of the top TE's and just run a lot of 2 TE sets until we find real WR help.

I don't want to over-react to missing out on one player. And yet it points to the general inability of Baalke to improve the team's talent. My logical side knows we cannot fill all holes this off season. But we at least need to accomplish getting a good O-line. That is the bare minimum for progress. We can pick up 5 new starters/contributors in the draft IF everything hits right. But that line needs to be solid even if we improve little else. We're not going to maximize Trevor's rookie contract if the FO doesn't get its act together.

What about the Pederson hire? That he didn't break the news first? And he didn't say it was Bissacia being hired.
He has broken a lot of Jags news, so I'm not sure how the craziness around the coaching search all of a sudden takes away credibility.
According to UCF Jaguars youtube channel, the Jags did offer more than the browns but Cooper put the Kabosh to it,

Yes, he didnt break the Pederson hire and he was hinting a Biasacia hire at the time of it. If he still knows the guy in the building he will have his time to shine in a couple days, hopefully he still does.
To be honest I think we dodged a bullet. Cooper is a good receiver but no where near 22 million good.
Spending big money and Spending stupid money are two different things. Cooper is no where near worth that salary. I would rather put that money towards Chark than Cooper.
Welp Ertz off the table now too, sheesh.

Our O-Line wasn't a huge problem last season. Our WR's were our biggest problem by a mile.
I strongly disagree about the OL. As the year progressed, the OL played progressively worse, especially Taylor.
We agree that WR was a bigger problem overall.
Ertz would have been okay, but I would rather spend that kind of money on the line and WR.
Lots of the top players have already re-signed or been tagged. ARob is the best WR available, but he'll cost close to $20 M a year. Ryan Jensen would be an upgrade at Center; at least he doesn't miss a lot of games due to injury. Going to be a disappointing FA period.
^^^ I think Jensen just re signed with the Bucs. Honestly looking like Frangie might be right and our top WR in free agency may end up being Marquez Valdez Scantling.

I think as a whole our O-Line was still a problem, but nowhere near what the WR's were. Now if we are just specifically zeroing in on Jawaan Taylor, he was/is the biggest problem area on the team. He's a human turnstile. I'm hoping that by tagging Robinson, it signals that Taylor is headed for the bench.

Strongly disagree. I'll take Chark over Robinson 7 days a week.
I look for Jensen to re-sign with Tampa Bay now that Brady is coming back.
