I get that but the dude has 2.5 sacks in 10 games. Sooner or later it's time to try other things.

It's the height/weight ratio. In case you don't understand, Aaron Donald is only 285 pounds but the dude is 6'-1" tall so he can use his leverage whereas Walker is 6'-5" and 275 pounds as noted above -- BIG DIFFERENCE !!! Chris Jones is 6'-6" tall but he is also 311 pounds. So yes, Walker's height/weight ratio doesn't translate to DT.
Another thing is if we are trying to use our #1 DE pick as DT, that's a good sign he's not working out.
If I had said I want to see him there all the time, or even a lot, you would have a point. The lightning package gets your 4 best pass rushers on the field at one time in long yardage, absolutely having to pass to have a chance at a first down, situations. Those situations may only even come up 3 or 4 times in a game, if at all, and is meant to catch the offense in a serious speed to power mis-match. If the offense runs a draw and gets only 10 of the 15 yards needed for a first down and Walker is knocked around in the process, it's still a successful play, and I want to see it.
I also want to see them rush just 3 more often (
not with Walker inside) and flood the passing lanes. I've only noticed them do that a few times this year, but it was very effective when I've seen it. It
IS possible I've only noticed it when it worked and it was horribly ineffective other times, but I'd still like to see it mixed in a little more. Rushing 4 and blitzing every other play has definitely been a complete failure.
In any case, the pass rush has completely sucked outside of a couple of spurts this year, and I would like to at least see them try
something different on occasion to mix things up and keep opposing offenses a little bit more honest. What we're doing currently is NOT working.

Saying "sooner or later" about a rookie pass rusher means you haven't paid much attention to the history of the position in the league.

I have witnessed the Jaguars waiting too long on players to become playmakers. I get he is a rooie but 2.5 sacks in 10 games is depressing for the 1st overall pick in the draft. If the team can find better ways to use his talent I am all for it. Just watching him run into the chest of Tackles over and over again is tiring.
Yes Walker has had only 2.5 sacks this season, it's his rookie year and he was extremely raw as a pass rusher. He had less career snaps rushing the passer in college than Hutchinson had last season. But let's also remember, Josh Allen had 10.5 in his rookie year which is very solid, and has been about as useful as Jeremy Mincey since.
Again I see no harm in trying him inside and see if something clicks. So sick of see him running into the chest of tackles.
Let’s give him the remainder of the year before moving him around too much. Maybe he will start to turn the corner.
I'm watching this Lions game and Walker just whiffed on Goff even though Walker had him dead to rights. Looks like Walker was lined up inside the tackle, stunted inside, and had a free rush up the middle. And totally whiffed. Goff juked him a little but it's probably the first time it really stood out to me how unnatural Walker looks. Didn't break down and looked really unagile. To be an elite pass rusher coming off the edge, you need to be agile, have quickness, and have some bend. The more I watch him play the more I wonder if he really has the traits to be an outside the tackle pass rusher. Now again, this play wasn't coming off the edge but a great outside pass rusher who gets a free run up the middle shouldn't whiff on a play like that. Maybe a slightly less coordinated DT will from time to time but not a great pass rusher.
Lately there has been talk about needing to find the right fit for him as 3-4 OLB rusher may not maximize his skillset But I'm starting to wonder if he has the traits to even be an elite 4-3 end. It's really odd that we're nearing the end of the season and he hasn't even become to have developed the semblance of a pass rush move. maybe he is really just best as a first and second down 4-3 end opposite your elite pass rusher.
Obviously way too early to write him off but signs arent good.
He’s a bust. Baalke once again thought he was smarter than everyone else and took a project at DE who had lost minute draftnik hype ; when Gardner and Hutchinson were on the board as safer much more evaluated

It's too early to say bust but it's painfully obvious he's worse than Hutchinson at least. Regardless how sad that makes other members on this board.
Btw, first overall is expected to contribute from week 1. Why else draft him there?

A project playing out of position IMO. He should be playing with his hand on the ground.
All of Hutch's sacks have come on fluke stuff like today. Except for that 1 free rush, he was invisible as well.

We needed pass rush, not projects.
How many years have we shot ourselves in the feet trying to appear the smartest in the room?
Take genuine, actual, factual football players who excel AT THEIR POSITION. You want pass rush, take a guy who gets in QB faces. You want turnovers, take a ballhawking CB. You want pass pro? You take a behemoth who doesn't let anyone past.
Save the projects for later.

Hmmm
I seem to recall a guy getting slammed on this board because he was an excellent pass rusher but appeared to struggle against the run... and he currently has 8.5 sacks for the clots.
