There was heat on this in the off season. Will be even more heat this next up coming off season if the defense doesn't keep Henry and the tacks in check. They have to split the divisional series overall IMHO for him and Caldwell to be safe.
If they fall 1 - 5 in the AFC South? Baalke has to take the hit for it. Khan already entertained Spielman and opened up that can of worms for the media to go fishing with moving forward with Baalke.

I don't know how much Khan considers the media perception with his front office moves. I know there was a sliver of hope Baalke was gone in Jan and Spielman possibly coming in over him. But I don't think Khan will go back down that road this early into the Pederson/Baalke thing unless there is even worse major debacles.
At this point, It may have to take getting blown out a few more times this season, possibly even losing out including to the Texans.
Khan. K-H-A-N.
I feel better now.

Captain Kirk played well today at least. Coach Caldwell is outclassed again. He has no answers if he even knows the questions. Balkie is untouchable so dont even think about him getting fired. Hes like the x that wont stop calling you but you kind of have to answer because you had a kid with her. Lol jussss playing but balkie is like the t2 on terminator. He will be back.
I don't blame Baalke. He's done a lot with this roster. I blame Caldwell. Twelve games into the season, they should not be blowing coverages like this. Detroit scored on every possession. What I saw out there was confusion and missed assignments. Now knowing where to line up or who you're supposed to cover is not the result of a lack of talent. If we hadn't blown coverages late in at least 3 games, we'd have 7 wins and Trent Baalke wouldn't even be mentioned.

It’s been obvious all season that Caldwell is struggling. Detroit read his short playbook like a cheap novel yesterday. The Peter Principle reared its ugly head.
I can’t blame the person that went to the store and bought my chicken. I have to blame the cook if it doesn’t taste right.
In this case Baalke brought in some decent players but Caldwell’s scheme just isn’t working.

The Jags were totally owned ....

I would love to be a fly on the wall in the stadium today to hear what is being said about that defensive disgrace yesterday.

Cancel your season tickets. When asked why, be very specific that you refuse to support a team that pays the GM to generally mismanage.
Your dollar is the only voice that the owner hears, and in light of the TV contracts that these teams share, your voice is little more than a whisper.

I think you're on to something. The primary task this offseason was to fix the run D and get Trevor some receiving help. That's where the vast majority of our cash went. At present, and later, at the end of the year, when we look at our performance, did these goals get met?
For everyone looking for heads to roll, I expect there to be disappointment. Trevor's arrow is pointing up. The Run D is better (so far, but 2 games against D. Henry alone can tank that ranking). If he and Pederson are able to work well together and continue to build toward Doug's vision, I highly doubt that any costumes, outcry, or other such gestures from the fanbase are going to force Shad's hand.

I have never had faith in Baalke.
But I don’t think “dark days are ahead”. Trevor and Doug are the right pieces to turn this ship around. Today was a really bad game all around but it’s not doom and gloom. If Trevor had torn his ACL, then it truly would be “dark days ahead.” But, it appears he is ok.
this right here.
And anyone who wants a WR over a lineman after watching that hit is gonna be calling for the GM's head again this time next season when TLaw is still getting battered.

How he recovered from that is nothing short of a miracle. Had that happened to anyone else, they would be an IR listing tonight.
The way he twisted I figured at the very least that his ankle/foot was in danger.

WRONG!!! They didn't score on the kneel-down possession.

And Trevor must be part Gumby. Shocking that nothing more serious didn't happen to his knee or ankle. I kind of quit giving a crap about how we got our [BLEEP] handed to us yesterday when he went back into the game.

If everyone did that it would backfire. Khan would point and say “this franchise isn’t supported by the city” and use it as an excuse to negotiate in bad faith on our future stadium and move the team. Damned if you do, damned if you don’t

I dunno who deserves more blame but the knee jerk reactions are stupid.
When we beat the brakes off the bolts and clots no one was saying these things.
Maybe the very young team has some growing pains to work through. Give them and the coaches time to gel and grow beyond 12 total games. Especially rookies, stop acting like they're busts already jeebus.
No one is getting fired, there is progress in most areas of this team, year 2 together for all these guys is gonna be much better I'm sure.

We're into December...
There isn't anything reactionary anymore, my friend. We gave the coaches time and they have produced what we have.
Offensive coaches: Outstanding job. The offense looks like a ligitimate NFL squad. Trevor Lawrence has been established as a Franchise QB.
Defensive coaches: Failure on multiple levels. They have taken free agents and squandered them to the point they don't even dress anymore. You took two 1st round drafted players that had so much potential, and have sqaundered their talent. There is no blitz capability to even pressure the QB. You let your man to man concept be removed for a zone defense that has not ability to hold the offense. Your D-Line is so trash that there is no pressure even on a QB that is a mark in the pocket.
What happened in September is one thing. Our D looked good. But they have been trash ever since.
On the other hand, our offense continues to develop and get better. Our offense and our QB was top 10 in November.
So you tell me. What's the problem?

The league is garbage with less scoring and less entertainment across the board and yet we break the trend and get 40 dropped on us. We are helped out this week by the Colts getting thrashed by Dallas.
I am not patient with the owner and front office but they are saved by the head coach and growth of the QB. This is a pitiful roster still in a pitiful league. They should be able to turn it around but sadly for the fans it will take more time.

All you need are the right leaders in the right spots.
Pederson has proven that. He's changed this offense.
All we need is a better DC. That's obvious.
I'm not sure why so many here are so fatalistic about the future. If you have the right management, you can get the best out of your personnel. Pederson is getting the best out of our offense, to the point where we are nearly playoff contenders, even with a garbage Defensive Coordinator.
If, come March, Pederson says that we are going with Caldwell as the DC... Then I'll start to get negative. But I think Pederson will evaluate the defense and realize that the coaching on that side of the ball has been unacceptable.

Defense is now 25th overall. The only saving grace they have left is that for the rest of the way they play run heavy teams. If they can actually stop those teams it would salvage the investments made by Baalke, to an extent.
Caldwell has had a brutally tough year as a first time defensive coordinator though. This defense just looks completely lost and out of touch out there at times. Just when you think one performance was bad? They go out and have a "hold my beer" moment.
Walker whiffing on a sack with Goff and then just failing to get them off the field until they took a knee to finish out the clock was a first this year for this staff and this defense.
I agree, it's December. Where in the [BLEEP] are the adjustments being made? Lloyd was used as a scapegoat and Muma was put out there but he's making tackles down the field and not in the backfield.
Walker was told to play OLB. He's not effecting the QB at all. He only knows one move and one move only. Need to try something different. This is the other argument to be made as well. Especially for a number one overall selection.
When you look around the league and see the premier pass rushers, it's seldom they're stationary at LE, RE or OLB. Virtually all of them are lined up wherever the scheme needs them to be in order to create the easiest path to the QB. One drive they might be lined up off the left side, then the right side or right over the center and guard's shoulders.
You have to do what you have to do in a pass happy era of football to apply heat to the QB. Sounds simple. Because it is. In practice? Clearly not so much for this staff and current starting line up. They can't blitz because they can't handle man to man coverage. Zone is not working because the front four is ineffective and there's too much time for plays to breakdown in the secondary.
At some point. You have to make a decision and create an identity out there that works. If you're going to lean on Zone? You're going to have to disguise your blitzes well and you're going to have to move your players around on that front three, four. 12 weeks in with 19 sacks on the year. [BLEEP] disgraceful.
