See it all worked out for the best. Urban gives us our best draft class of all time, but then can’t coach, allowing us then to get our best coach.

Baalke masterclass is in session, Jaguars fans.
Can't wait to see who is added to this line in March and April.
Trevor deserves better from LG and C.

2021 Draft:

Lawrence

Etienne

Campbell

Little

Cisco

This is looking like the best class in Jaguars history- by a big margin.

Which begs the question; how the hell did Meyer pull that off o_O

The more likely answer is it was probably mostly on Baalke and the scouting department.  A guy that stays behind and parties after a losing effort doesn’t strike me as a guy who puts in hour after hour of film study and player evaluation, especially having been hired only a few months before the draft.  We’ll never know for sure though.
Or sometimes, maybe one should not overthink the draft picks. Just pick the BAP

We do know that Meyer wanted Kadarius Toney in the first round. The guy has been unavailable for most of his two seasons and would have been another 1st round Jaguars' bust. I'll give Baalke and the scouting staff credit for the others.

Brilliant. Just take the guy who for sure will end up being the best! Easy peasy.

Urban Meyer was a genius

As much as he forced Campbell on to the field before he was ready, he kept Little and Cisco on the sidelines.  I don't think these were Meyer picks, because he didn't fully believe in them.

I was definitely being sarcastic

I’m not trying to defend Meyer in this reply, but all we know is he wanted him, not why.  The why could have been because the scouting department and/or Baalke built him up in their discussions and he was taking their word for it or it could be because he had personally done some evaluation and fell in love with him on his own.  Doubt we’ll ever know, but most of what we do know points to Baalke having a clue and Meyer not.

You are grossly exaggerating the Tyson Campbell situation.

He wasn't forced on to the field too early.

He was a bad fit to play press-man early on and when Cullen adjusted to more zone he settled in.
Campbell's coverage grades in 2021 show demonstrably that he belonged on the field as a starting CB in the NFL.

Now with a year under his belt, his grades and stat lines are intermingled with the best in the business.

I don't know or care exactly what Meyer had to do with any of it anymore really, but Cisco would have been a better FS than Dewey last year and Little likely could have been implemented sooner to aid the OL struggles a bit.

Campbell was a good CB who naturally developed under a better staff into a great CB.
Cam has said he won’t play RT.

I’m just not a fan of the guy.

Neither was Uche...

It's really painfull knowing that we're gonna lose Taylor and have Cam next year...

Our O-Line really needs to be shored up...  Some think that Fourtner is a liability.  I disagree.  We need one more Guard and we need Tackle Depth for when Cam [BLEEP] the bed....

Bartch is coming back next year, so that's good.  But if you look at our O-Line depth chart right now, we're decimated.  I just can't say how tough it's gonna be to lose Taylor next year...  But I don't see how we can hold on to him along with the other needed FA positions.  We're gonna lose Taylor because we have Cam on the books.  And that's...  Cam has been nothing but a disappointment since we signed him.

Coach Meyer is a good at evaluation of talent. He is not an offensive guru like coach pederson. 2 things can be right at the same time. Now I will say coach Meyer made a huge mistake in not getting a really good offensive coordinator. Coach pederson is one of the best offensive coaches ever. Period.

Go jags!

Who's "coach meyer"?  Are you talking about the physically and mentally abusive douche bag that hired racist scum bags and cheated on his wife with skanks at a bar instead of flying home with the rest of his team?  The same dude that can't identify HOF caliber players in the NFL and was shocked about how hard the work is in the NFL?  You're talking about that guy?  LOL.  You give too much respect to that piece of [BLEEP].
Bartch was good at LG before he went down. Him coming back next year will help. The real question is like we said, what to do about Cam? If he refuses to start at RT, you can keep him as the swing tackle for a year and then cut him. I can't see this staff keeping around a player who isn't willing to do whatever they can to help the team. If the best OL combination involves him at RT and he refuses to play it, he'll be gone. You can post June 1st cut him and save $1m on 2023 cap but add $5m in dead money to the 2024 cap (according to Spotrac)
Probably the most interesting roster decision in the offseason for me ...

Three into two just won't do

There's literally 5/6 ways it could play out and I won't pretend i have a clue which way they'll go ... If they think Little is the real deal personally i'd be tempted to take what they can get for Cam (where's Dave Caldwell to burgle a 1st and 4th for a busted flush when you need him) and don't look back,... although where that would leave us on the cap, and whether it would even be feasible again i don't know, I'm happy to defer to the more knowledgeable portion of the board on those things.

One ingredient to add to the pot which I haven't seen mentioned though is that as Gajag points out Cam has said on more than one occasion that it's left tackle or bust ... If the staff decide they want to roll with Walker on the left, Robinson might decide he quite fancies a trade himself which would add another rabbit hole for Alice in Baalkeland to disappear down

Interested to see how it plays out, ... To paraphrase an English comic Trent might have to play this as crafty as a fox with a degree in cunning from Yale.

What the hell???   Meyer didn't evaluate much of anything except how he could most effectively delegate any and all work that required actual work.  Meyer seemed to have his fingerprints on the ETN pick more than anything, but I imagine pretty much everything else went something like this:
Baalke - "So and so is available with the next pick.  You ok with that?"
Meyer - "Sounds good to me.  If he doesn't work out, it's your [BLEEP]!"

Bartch was a good run blocker but a poor pass blocker before he got hurt.  We need a guard that can do both to help Trevor

Now steady on ... I'll not have that sir ...

I distinctly remember Urban evaluating that lassies rear hamper quite extensively and it is very possible his fingerprints were all over that, err, ahem, err ... Decision!
