Quote:"11. No NFL linebacker duo allowed more yards in coverage than Jacksonville’s Telvin Smith and Paul Posluszny (1,178) last season."

Just because you say he isn't bad in coverage doesn't make it true. He and Poz were the very worst LB duo in the league last year, and it wasn't all Poz's fault. They are both bad, but the team at least believes that Poz can help intrinsically by helping the rest of the defense get in the right alignments.

If the team eventually believes that Jack can handle getting the defense set properly then perhaps he and Telvin can be the nickel pairing, but they aren't there yet. Until then, Poz is going to stay on the field in the passing game.

Is it possible our pass rush was contributing to this?
Why cant Telvin play MLB?
Quote:poz is the one that should be off the field, hes barely good

No, Poz is a very good MLB. That's my opinion.

Too small. Completely different skill set.

Your football IQ is showing again.

Has to factor in.  If they are calling it a "duo" then they are likely analyzing nickel downs.  Pass rush is usually a big element there.

Here's the PFF bit it's from (since someone can't provide their own sources)

Why cant he bulk up ? See players do that all the time.

He's naturally just a lean guy. If he bulks up too much, it can take away his speed and explosiveness.
The main thing is that telvin would have a hard time keeping on any significant amount of weight.

Would he be any slower than Poz? That would be hard to do.

Probably not, but why bulk up Telvin and compromise his best attributes?

Especially since even if Jack is playing some Will, he'll be moving to MLB when he's ready and Telvin will slide back into his role
Any common sense coach would know he needs speed on the field and Jack and Telvin on the field together would give him that.. But the sad thing is common sense aint so common..

It's not contagious either...

Speed is definitely all that matters.

Just ask Troy Williamson, Darrius Heyward-Bey, Fabian Washington....

Real life isn't Madden.
Roy Miller is a good runstopper. Maybe he should drop 75 lbs and move to MLB?

Or maybe Telvin could bulk up to 270 and play Leo.
I would find a way for Telvin and Myles to play together.
