Once you have an elite QB, the most important thing is to provide protection. How did Tom Brady operate at such an elite level all those years with average receivers? He has a great o-line with quick reads.
I agree.

I also think it shows that Baalke and Pederson work well together. If Little plays at a high level at LT and Harrison does well at RT, Cam may be the swing tackle for the rest of 2023 and then hits the road in 2024.
I can't wait to see him against Will Anderson. That's the matchup I really want to see

Yes, really smart pick. I actually had him as #4 OT. Basically I had a tie between #3,4 & 5. Additionally our guys executed the selection in a way to aquire more resources. So I consider this a successful day 1. Yea, it could have been better but not by much. Face it when you are picking #24 you are at the mercy of 23 teams ahead of you in the draft order and the depth of the draft class. I was just glad a few teams used their picks to choose players that made me say "Whaaaaat?"

Today is shaping up to be a really interesting time.

And the Chiefs got him so this is good

We also saved 600k in cap space too ... lol
Thread subject is a perfect summation of the pick.

Anton Harrison.
OT.
OK.

Just glad we didn't take Bresee
Based on his highlight reel, it appears as if he plays very high and upright so I'm a little concerned about Edge opponents that use low leverage coming around the corner.  That said, when I watch OL highlights, I kind of set the bar at the Boselli level so everyone looks pretty average to me.
I wonder if LT will be an open competition between him and Little.

I give it a conditional A depending upon how the added resources are used in the next few rounds.
We have 2 young stud left tackles and the oldest one just turned 24 yrs old. Life is good in Duuuvaal.
I brought this up on Twitter:

Looking at the LTs at Oklahoma before Harrison: Trent Williams, Lane Johnson, Jamaal Brown, Orlando Brown Jr, and Cody Ford. Between them: 7 All Pro seasons and 20 pro bowls. That is some PEDIGREE at the position? It’s also 480 combined starts between 5 players (almost 6 full seasons per player).

It’s a high bar, but to play LT at OK, you gotta be an ATHLETE.

Draft pick

Oklahoma OT Anton Harrison (No. 27 overall)

Analysis: Lacking depth at offensive tackle and with Cam Robinson facing suspension, the Jaguars addressed their offensive line in the first round with an up-and-coming prospect in Harrison. The mobility he showed during the season and at the NFL Scouting Combine was impressive, so it’s not a surprise he went in Round 1. The top corners were off the board and this draft’s depth at tight end allowed them to meet this need first. per NFL.com
Excited and ready to win
I read somewhere that a team can never have enough Big Uglies.  Big Grin

After the season the Jaguars had last year I totally trust this coach and GM to take us to be
a team where players want to come too.

Sounds like a genuine person....anyone have Tony B's thoughts on him?
This was definitely a Doug pick imo. When during the press conference one asked Baalke what he likes about Harrison, Baalke looked at Doug and said "coach". As in if was Dougs guy. Doug wanted Ekwanu last year so Doug finally gets his tackle
The more I read about him, the better I feel. Hopefully, it will make it easier to move on from Robinson after the season.

Looks like the Raiders had Harrison as their number 2 tackle behind Johnson
Baalke was apparently pretty stringent about insuring he got his guy at 27 before he accepted trades down.
