That's on you for being an idiot if you can't see the difference between the two.

Idiot? Don’t be so hard on yourself. Let me explain it for you in a simple, clear way.
One was a guy giving a marketing opportunity an ill-fated and gimmicky run in teal hot pants. The other is a dad giving his son an NFL contract out of nowhere.
The difference is clear. The fact that one bothered so bad you couldn’t go more than six hours without moaning about it while the other gets a congratulatory free pass doesn’t mean you’re an idiot, though. Unprincipled, certainly, but not an idiot.

Projected to 17 games he'd have had 570 yards in a season the length of an NFL season.
That's more than the 12th best TE in the NFL last year.
Math is your friend.
Still, I stick to my projection.
Long shot to make the PS.

Actually, 329 in 10 games would be 32.9 Yards/Game which if you extrapolate to 17 games, would be 559.3 not 570. Even if you round up to 33 per game, it still would only be 561.
Poor math. No one wants to be it's friend.

(07-10-2023, 03:02 PM)homebiscuit Wrote: [ -> ]This is amusing. Jaguars.com posted a story about Josh Pederson being signed but did not mention he is the son of the HC.
The Jacksonville Jaguars have signed TE Josh Pederson and waived/injured TE Leonard Taylor, the team announced today. If Taylor clears waivers, he will revert to the Jaguars injured reserve list.
Pederson played in all 10 games during the 2023 USFL season for the Houston Gamblers. He caught 25 passes for 325 yards and ranked third in receiving yards among tight ends. Prior to joining the Gamblers, he spent time with the San Francisco 49ers, New Orleans Saints, and Kansas City Chiefs during the 2021 season.
Originally from Moorestown, N.J., Pederson played collegiately at Louisiana-Monroe and caught 99 passes for 1,191 yards and 11 touchdowns. In 2019, he was named All-Sun Belt First Team after recording 43 receptions for 567 receiving yards and a team-leading nine receiving touchdowns. He attended Blue Valley North high school where he caught 73 passes for 1,102 yards and 16 touchdowns in two seasons.

Let's get some more accurate perspective here.
One was a failed football player (who had never played TE) who turned to baseball to stay relevant, where he also failed. At that point the worst coach in the history of NFL football stupidly decided to give him a tryout - and he - wait for it - failed again.
The other is a young man currently in the middle of a professional football career as a TE. He makes 1000% more sense as a camp body for a TE room with little depth than someone completely removed from the sport by years who never even played the position.

If you add “and who wouldn’t be getting a look at the Jags if he weren’t the coach’s son” then your perspective would be in focus. The harder you work to make it seem like being the coaches son has nothing to do with him turning up at the Jags instead of any other NFL team (who have no idea who he is), the more you dig the hole.
I could care less about him. But I am humoured by ease with which this board decides principle based on expediency.

Meh
You're trying to make something out of nothing.
Virtual nobodies get added to rosters this time of year on the reg.
Here are the TEs ahead of him:
Evan Engram
Brenton Strange
Luke Farrell
Gerritt Prince
Sammis Reyes
Leonard Taylor
If he somehow beats out four of those guys (and the potential H-Back/FB candidate) for a roster spot and one of them goes on to a better career, I'll happily bow in acceptance to your premature cries of nepotism.
For now - it seems rather innocuous.

That is exactly the same rationalising about Tebow that had you foaming at the mouth. It’s clear you understand exactly what you’re doing but hope that by pretending you don’t, that you’ll get a pass. Your attempt to say “nothing to see here” is fine with me. I get no mileage from your integrity or lack thereof.
