IJS.
NH3...l
Well literally anyone who has played TE in the NFL before is better than him lol
The Jags cut Oliver for Tebow. The whole Meyer experience was the worst decision this franchise has ever made but also the best since the Jags got Doug and Trevor.

Chaisson will only turn 24 years old on July 25th. We are weak at Pass Rush, so it'd be incredibly stupid to cut a young Pass Rusher, have to eat $2m in dead cap space and still pay him to not be on the roster.
Maybe Chaisson turns the corner this year, or maybe he doesn't, but it'd be dumb to make a weak position group even weaker, all while paying somebody who isn't here. You let him play out his final contract year and see what happens.
You're making a big assumption that the team couldn't be better with someone else in his place.
Sure, but who exactly is that someone else? 34 year old Justin Houston? 33 year old Robert Quinn? Ngakoue? It's not like there's much out there to pick from in the FA market during this time of the year.

Trent even said as much before OTAs -- they're going to see what they have before they look to shake up the roster. I don't expect any big signings. I think they'll roll the dice and hope the combo of Allen, Travon, Abdullah, Chaisson, and/or Jordan Smith can supply a competent pass rush. If not, plan B would be a swing for the fence before the trade deadline, like Maxx Crosby or Chase Young when their teams are out of contention.

I don't know that there is a better pass rusher, but there might be a better something else. Chaisson essentially contributes nothing, he's the definition of just filling a roster spot. If he makes the team it'll be because it's cheaper to keep him than to replace him with another "filling out the roster" guy, but that doesn't mean someone better couldn't possibly be available.

Chaisson may not have lived up to his draft position, but he still is best backup at his position on this roster.
Even if they found a better player, there are still players below him in ability that would be cut first. The cuts would start with the bottom back up players and move up. We would have to find enough talented players to push him completely off the depth chart before he would be cut. The chances of finding enough talented players to do that at an extremely sought after position between now and the beginning of the season are slim to none.

Chaisson had 20% of the Defensive snaps and 50% of the Special Team snaps last year before he got hurt. That's not nothing.
Snoop is the definition of a guy who contributes essentially nothing and is just filling a roster spot.
We lack depth at Pass Rush. Getting rid of a young pass rusher only to replace his spot with another position on the roster wouldn't be wise. That's just going to make a weak position group even weaker. If you're going to get rid of him, you better replace him with somebody better who's going to play the same position.

20% of the defensive snaps? Impressive... Wait, did I say impressive? I meant irrelevant. 20% of snaps is just what a backup on a bad defense plays.
Anyway, like I said, there could be players that contribute something somewhere that are or come available that he gets replaced by, he's not good at anything he does.

And half of the Special Teams snaps, which you know, ST is a pretty important part of the game as well and is where most players make their living.
Anyways, chances of him getting cut are slim to none. There's worse players behind him that would get cut first.

The guy behind Chaisson has had 1 tackle in 2 seasons and is a year older.
We aren't cutting Chaisson to keep him.
