I want one of two things in a backup QB.
Either a young lion that can be turned into a draft pick of a QB desperate team, or a vet that was a decent starter that had his team decide they needed to go in a new direction. The former is guys like Rourke or minshew, the latter is guys like Hasselbeck.
Beathard is a guy that never had starter ability and who would lose every game if we had to have him start for us, and that's why he's not worth paying as a backup, you can't win with guys like him.
So you don’t value experience unless the guy’s a past starter. That can work but guys in that position usually aren’t much better than career backups.
I’m confident Brethard could win games in a pinch for us with the talent on this team. Rourke is a CFL guy who hasn’t proven anything and I’d be a lot more doubtful of our chances in an important game with him behind center.

It's not the experience it's the ability.
Guys like Bortles fall into the same category. Good enough that he won't hold a good team back like a guy like Beathard will.

I think we have seen Chaisson's chance. Jumping offside on 4th and 1 on the opponent's 29 yard line, when EVERYONE knows they are only going to try a hard count, is ridiculous. I think he's gone.
I’m becoming concerned about the amount of linemen going down this week. Even if they’re backups.

Washington has been a lock to make the roster for a while.
Elijah cooks has looked like a baller. Guy can move for how big he is.
Huge drop in the Lions DB’s from first half to second….looks like our bottom of roster stuff from last season.
