He’s gonna eat single coverage like he has his whole career.

Or he could do what Julio Jones did in Nashville.

We'll see.

Exactly. Not a popular opinion at the moment, but, I can see Baalke going defense now with our first three selections. CB, EDGE, NT. They have to think about that heavily now.

There is a tremendous difference between the two players' trajectory of their careers when they went to their new teams.  Diggs is still a top 5 WR in the NFL and Julio was washed.

Between Diggs, Collins, and Dell we're in a rough spot.

Agreed. CB all of a sudden becomes the top of the priority list at 17 if one of the top two, three are available. I think offensively, we need to retool our interior, probably around RD3 and RD4 between those picks at 96, 114 and 116. I would dedicate 17 and 48 though towards getting the defense more firepower in the secondary and more in the rotation in the trenches.

Getting after this offense is now the name of the game for me twice per year. You need a three to four deep room at CB and you need a three to four deep room at DL with guys that just make plays. We're going to need more than Campbell and Darby at CB and we're going to need more than Walker, Allen and Armstead in the DL room.

Not taking my chances on "hoping" Hamilton is ready to go. I want a CB or rotational EDGE at 17 and a towering presence at 48 that can play NT completely when needed to let others roam or at least be able to offer flexibility with playing 3-tech and 5-tech in specific down and distances.

I am warming up to the idea more and more of Walker kicking inside sometimes with a guy like Verse or Latu rushing off the edge standing up or with their hands in the dirt next to him or Allen. Defense still wins championships. Kansas City proved it a little more this past February for me personally.
Banana Banana Banana

And this is where the draft pick trade and opening up additional cap space went:

QB CJ Stroud
RB Joe Mixon
WR Stefon Diggs
WR Nico Collins
WR Tank Dell
TE Dalton Schultz

That crew looks pretty unstoppable.  Pretty amazing what Nick Casserio has been able to do for the offense, not to mention the fact that he's added legit play-makers to the Defense.  I think this is textbook for what can happen if you can get a rookie QB that can immediately play during his rookie contract.

Now I wouldn't mind spending both 2nd rounders on the OLine for depth if nothing else, cause I want Stroud to have time to eat a ham sandwich each time he drops back.  But I think DT and CB are where those picks go.

Is there?

There are tens of thousands of bills fans painting every corner of the internet with the news that Diggs hit the "father time wall" midseason last year and the wheels are already coming off. (comp his sept/oct numbers to his Nov/Dec numbers and you'll see why they are saying this)

We'll see how much longer he's productive and how often. It's not a bad gamble for a team with youth at the position to take. I'm not going to just consider it a slam dunk though.
Lots of pressure on the Texans this year
Great pickup texans,

They fired their OC during that time frame, pretty sure a new offensive approach had more of an affect than Diggs mid-season "father time."  I will say that Diggs isn't your model NFL citizen with some of his attitude/Divaness, but I think that between DeMeco's leadership and the fact that his contract has no guarantees after 2024 should help take care of that.

Plus it's hard to get bitter,  when you're team is bringing home the Lombardi's! Wink

Can someone change this thread title to read as the tinhorns as it righteously should read? This is blasphemy.

Over reaction much? Tinhorns still are the moss that grows on the shady side of the tree.

It's also early. I am not biased as much as some of our fanbase. I see a lot of folks [BLEEP Wrote:on this trade on Twitter. They may not be done for all we know. pid='1613888' dateline='1710514699']

They could be eyeing a player to trade for. Especially if they know they're entering next year's draft already with a pair of second round picks.

I think it's smart. Wouldn't shock me if they land a quality player or two in this draft class. They did it last year.

^Great call by Caldrac.

Well, yea diggs is fast. 4.47 speed, good thing Darby, Savage and Campbell all have 4.3 speed.

Yes, those are the teams in the AFC South... If that's a ranking you're going to need some justification, I'll give you the Jags at the top because of Fandom, but the Titans over the Texans?
The Texans have cancelled the final 3 years of Diggs' contract.  He'll be a free agent at the end of the year.  That means they have traded a 2nd round pick for a one-year rental, for $22.5 million.
