Probably none, maybe Doug.. he's pretty loyal.

He had a good game, none of those throws were wow throws. Efficient QB play, Good routes and even better play design. tinhorns out coached and out played them as a whole.

If none of his throws tonight were "wow throws" than I'm not sure Trevor has ever had a "wow" throw.

Easy throws due to routes and play design. Their OC pencil whipped the Browns.

He averaged 13 yds per throw for the game... Most people call that 'gun slinging', which is the exact opposite of 'pencil whipping.'

Over half of his throws were 5 yards, or less of the LoS... It's called YAC.

How many times did Texan receivers drop 3rd down passes for 1st downs?

Agreed.   They used the Brown's aggressiveness to their advantage with miss direction.   They would run most of their blocking schemes one way, fake the hand off or pitch then throw it to an unguarded receiver/RB who would then run for 25+ yards.   Perfectly called offensive game.

Stroud has played better than Trevor this season, but tonight...he took what the Browns gave him...and ripped them a new one.   I hope Press Taylor was watching this game.

Please note that we also picked up the Buffalo Bills wide out coach this off season.   Still trying to determine how he's earning his paycheck.

And the other half were 21 yards. Now we agree. Wink

Only 3 passes were over 20 yards.

Man all I see is cope and delusion. It's a disgusting odor. Just admit it, the Texans are good and CJ is actually HIM and Trevor at the moment is not. I'm a die hard Jags fan, but we have already lost hold of the South, this is 100% Houston's division moving forward.

Oh please, the NFL is in constant change from year to year. Since you're such a Jags fan, you should know it first hand..

The tacks were saying that same thing 2 years ago. We were saying that same thing this past season. Now the tinhorns are saying it.

Stroud will come back down to earth and that team will mellow out. This Division is wide open.

Take notes.

Throw a 2 yard pass that his receiver then takes the remaining 74 yards?

Hmm... So by "come back down to earth," you must mean that CJ will throw a 1 yard pass that his receiver will run with. As Yoda would say, "Confusing your arguments are."
Eric1 is a lawrence apologetic. Waste of time talking to a homer like that
Maybe the FO can change their approach a little bit, that instead of getting a TE and RB early in draft in an effort to get Trevor more “weapons” over and over again, they ask themselves:

Here is a QB that we may need to worry about twice a season, we should probably bolster the d-line and seconday so we can worry less about him slinging it all over the place against us

Its called intermediate throwing - you know like Tom Bradys bread and butter? Those throws are actually harder to complete than big throws across the field.

But hey, what do we know? Let Eric1 tell us how a good QB like Trevor is and how CJ is so beneath him.

Right now, probably very few, tbh. Stroud is consistently accurate and makes good decisions, two things Trevor struggles with.
(01-13-2024, 08:53 PM)todd-parker Wrote: [ -> ]If you took a poll of all the NFL head coaches, how many would take Trevor over Stroud?

I would take Stroud.

I do think Trevor has the potential to be an elite, top-5 quarterback.  But I think Stroud has the potential to be the very best QB in the league.

Of course, in sports, or life in general, nothing moves in a straight line.  So next year, we might be saying the opposite.  Stroud has a better offensive line in front of him.

But right now, I'd take Stroud over anyone.
I am a Lawrence fan, and I think he is a perfect fit for our city, but to deny that Stroud is a superior QB at this stage is dishonest. Guy took his team to the playoffs and won a game in his rookie year. Not only that, he was a huge part of why.

None of the sober ones.
Thank you for the praise everyone.

Stroud had some awful games throughout year they were able to overcome that could have easily gone the other way, but because they are a better coached team, they overcame them.

My eye test tells me there is a very good chance of a sophomore slump headed to Houston. He is turnover prone and had a lot of 50 50 situations go his way. Time will tell.

Agreed, hopefully we can have a good offseason and sweep them next year to help with the slump

This is why the Jaguars brain trust has done a poor job. They did not prepare to dominate the division. They have pissed away TL's rookie contract. Next year will be more competitive but you have to be pleased if you are a Texans fan. Hat tip to their coaching staff and the character of CJ Stroud.
