Quote:Gus can kiss my [BAD WORD REMOVED].. He's the same ole piece of [BAD WORD REMOVED] wannabe head coach we've had for the last handful of years. He wasn't worth a [BAD WORD REMOVED] when we got him, he wasn't worth a [BAD WORD REMOVED] for the last number of years and he won't be worth a [BAD WORD REMOVED] this year. Wanna see the perfect example of addition by subtraction? Get rid of that bald headed ding dong who can't coach worth a damn. Every time I see a pic of him and his damn dumb face smiling, I wanna take a sledgehammer to his teeth. There's no more excuses for him. There were no more excuses for that [BAD WORD REMOVED] last year. He's done and needs to be gone. He's done NOTHING since he's been here and to even call him a better coach than ANYONE in this league right now is a pure insult to Jags fans..

Gus can sit and spin.. Junky loser..

This sums ups the frustration of alot of jags fans.
On the positive side, he does pronounce "Jaguar" correctly now.........it only took 4 years, so it does prove he can learn from his mistakes.
Quote:He lights up a room, very engaging personality. You gotta like the guy, a real players coach. Very accessable, he needs time to work out the kinks. It is a re-build as you know, a lot of moving parts. You gotta love the guy.

Good father? GO HOME TO YOUR KID

If you're gonna work here, you're gonna sell

not exactly word for word quote from a pretty good movie that many might recognize

him and al golden are the worst coaches I have ever seen, they are consistent at being.. unprepared, overwhelmingly positive car salesmen
Quote:This would be a good topic for the NFL Large section regarding the worst coaches from the other 31 current teams.

While I understand and respect your football frustration, there's no way I would put Gus Bradley at top of the list of NFL Worst Coaches of all-time.
Finally, a voice of reason... You guys must all have short term memory loss. Mularkey is the worst coach this franchise has ever had. Dude just doesn't have a clue.

Now, I don't think Bradley is good by any means. I'm willing to give him this year to change my mind, though. This is the first year he's had real NFL talent on both sides of the ball. If he can't get to 8-8 with this much talent, give him the boot.

I think Caldwell has made us forget just how talent-stripped this team was when he got here. Nobody could have won with that crew.
I like Gus and I hope that he succeeds here but it's clear this is his last shot.  I wouldn't be surprised if Khan went back on his word and brought Marrone or someone else in midseason if things go badly.  That being said...

Does anyone here doubt for one second that if Coughlin took over right now, leaving all other staff and systems in place, that we would be a better team this year?  I think that answer is obvious and it's sad considering Gus has had time to build momentum with the team and grow as a coach.

Quote:Why would Marrone be an upgrade? Not that im saying Bradley is better. I think he sucks too. But whats makes Marrone better in your opinion?
He's an experienced coach and a proven winner.

He would have had the Bills in the playoffs for the first time since 1999 were he not down to his 3rd string QB against KC.

My only concern would be his defensive scheme, but I think given the talent on this roster, he could succeed.
I don't know if he's the worst because I can't claim to have that exhaustive of knowledge of all coaches ever. I will say this however; Gus has an established losing record here. Keep in mind though that up until this season, he's had little talent to work with; so, having a losing record is not surprising, but that is not the case now; he has the talent on the roster. If by the end of the season we can't reach at least the 8-8 mark (or even sooner if it becomes impossible to do so), then Gus needs to be shown the door.

Canning Gus will not be grounds for celebration though; my viewing of this board suggests to me that there's no one out there who's currently available whom we could count on to do a better job as HC than what we've got in Gus. I don't care if the players like the HC... I care about results, as in a winning season record.

Quote:Mike Mularkey and Derek Dooley were the two worst head coaches I've seen at NFL and NCAA levels before watching Gus Bradley. This clown is AWFUL. He's positive again at halftime after HIS defense again gets torched. His defense sucks every year. That's his specialty.

He's an embarrassment and he's holding this team back. Hire Marrone now.

Personally speaking, I don't think Mularkey should be judged on the talent depleted roster that he had here in Jax or in the 1st year @ TN.    This year should be very revealing with regard to both Bradley & Mularkey.
In my twenty eight years of existence. He's the 2nd worst. I rank him ahead of Josh McDaniels' masterful dismantling of the Denver Broncos in his brief stint and just before Eric Mangini's similar hack job of the Cleveland Browns.

Now, most fans here will sip the teal punch and say he had an uphill battle and that he and Caldwell had to repair a broken roster that Gene Smith left behind. Okay, fair and point taken. But how much slack of excuses can you keep providing?

But, you were hired to get a job done. After three years of below mediocre performances he's been afforded more lives than Super Mario. He needs to have this team flirting with .500 and maybe a 6th seed if the AFC is weak this year overall to justify a fifth year.

But in terms or being terrible. He's currently right up there.

Yes, the 7 year plan is right on track !!!
Worst coach *ever*?  I dunno if I have the historical perspective to say that (and I bet nobody else on this forum does either), but it's past time to start producing some wins.  As someone mentioned, he's had some talent deficits in the past, but Caldwell has largely taken care of that.  This is a talented team now (although still pretty young).  The good news for the people that don't like him, he's likely gone next season.

As a professional coach, he is getting there. This season will either cement his legacy or cut him a break. He may finish with the worst win/loss rate of any HC in history who has coached 4+ seasons. Simply put, he has to WIN this season.

Two decent starts on offense for first two games, then a bad showing in preseason.

Fire Gus is already ramping up?

Shut the piss up and let the piss season start for piss sakes.

He's here for this year. Why keep beating this dead horse?

Less than 7-8 wins? Then light the torches.

This D will take this year to jell. Don't be getting to pumped for a Super Bowl run.

In the meantime. Coughlin is looking for work. Remember him? The guy the fans ran outta town years ago?

Yes.. must stick with the status quo because change is skeery..
Quote:Who did we pass up to hire this dud?

Bruce Arians was among those available when we hired Gus. Andy Reid too, but I doubt the Jags could have had him.

I wanted Jon Gruden, but among the active coaches who were available Arians was my #1 choice.

BTW, here is a list:

That was from 2014. By now I'd think Gus Bradley would be tied with Rich Kotite at #5.

I think Mike Zimmer was available too.  He was one of my guys.

Zimmer was probably my top choice. Also can't say I was against Bradley at the time either though.

Agreed.

So? You say fire him right now?

If you think changing coaching 2 weeks before the season starts is better, stick to Atari football
