Does the chant matter?  Does the FSU chant tell us what the coach wants his team to do?

The FSU chant tells us the crowd wants FSU to win.
Not all the protestors did all the same things.  But they had a unifying goal.  What was it?

We will get to that.

What were they trying to do?
They were trying to start a Kumite. Look, that insurrection was about as exciting as the toys you can find at an inserection.

What happened that day was long, long overdue. We're not perfect. It turns out, America is like every other country that's divided and grown tired of politicians [BLEEP] us over without taking us out to dinner first anymore.

It should have been a step in the right direction though. Towards a unified front. Maybe after Joey Bag o' [BLEEP] donuts is out of the picture and the lefties can admit they got it wrong supporting him we can all heal finally.

Say what you want. Things were better under Trump's administration. Globally and domestically. He did get in bed with the fed. And he did warp speed us into clot shots.

But, my bank account was healthier, [BLEEP] was more affordable and global tensions were nowhere near as bad as they are right now.

The way some of you lefties act like with January 6th? You'd think it was Hitler burning the [BLEEP] Reichstag down, 9/11 or the Boston Bombing.

Was it good? No.
Was it bad? No.
Was it neccesary? Yes.

The overall corruption that's been oozing out of our Congress and Government is enough to make Somalia blush in envy.

Now, please, do us all a favor and get off your high horse there, Verney.

Who are "they"?  There were hundreds of protesters present, displaying a huge range of behavior and emotions.  Some fought with police.  Most just wandered around.

Do any of these guys really look bright enough to lead an insurrection?  [Image: MAENRLQGLJDLJOCC3MGODMVZJI.jpg]

By kumite you mean hand to hand fighting.  OK. For sport? No.  You admit it was an insurrection but lament that it wasn't more entertaining.  OK.

Then you say, we should have more physical violence here, to wipe out corruption.  OK.

I wasn't expecting you to say that.  First of all, one or both sides are always going to have guns.  Bodies will pile up quickly.  There won't be much in the way of chivalrous fighting.

I think you misunderstand the point of democracy.  The point is not to find the best possible policy.  It's to avoid physical fighting over policy.  Hash it out at the ballot box.  I prove there that my side has more people, hopefully you no longer want to fight me over it because you see that I can bring more people to the fight than you can.  It is not to avoid corruption.  It is to minimize corruption by making it easier to remove any leader who loses touch with his original supporters.  But corruption can't be eliminated this way.

Anyhow

That's your first error.  Your second error is more serious than the first.  Your second error is, as soon as you cry and let slip the dogs of war, you have no idea how many people will die, how long the violence will last, who will end up on top, and if that person will actually be more or less corrupt than who came before.

Back to the point of the thread.  We've answered two questions, here are two more:

1) were there violent protestors at the Capitol on January 6 2021? Yes.

2) what was their goal? Their immediate goal was to find and arrest Mike Pence.  Which is why they chanted  "Where's Mike Pence?" Their broader goal was to help Trump remain in office, to prevent Biden from gaining office.

3) who gave them the idea to gather that day and try to break in and capture people?

4) many people, police officers, told them to stop.  They did not listen.  Then finally someone told them to stop that they did listen to.  Who was that?

I am saying, based on how the media portrayed it, you would have thought it was all over for America and it was the second coming of the fall of Rome. None of which happened. It was a fart in the wind in the grand scheme of things and Joey bag o' Donuts won the election and has since done a fantastic job as president...

Then you say, we should have more physical violence here, to wipe out corruption.  OK.

You have to fight fire with fire, bud, that's just the way of the world. It ain't always pretty. But, remember, he ain't heavy, he's my brother.

I wasn't expecting you to say that.  First of all, one or both sides are always going to have guns.  Bodies will pile up quickly.  There won't be much in the way of chivalrous fighting.

Yes. Such is the way of violence. Such is the way of the Thunderdome! You know the rules! 2 man enter! 1 man leaves! 2 man enter! 1 man leaves!

The irony, is that, you're saying Democracy is about avoiding physical fighting over policy. Yet, our entire sense of Freedom and policies were established through physical fighting over tyranny. I think Democracy is a made up word that people like to use to control other people and we're just getting a little too docile and comfortable with passively accepting the corruption and rot within our nation.

You know, kind of similar to why some of those honkey's boarded those ships to sail across the Atlantic centuries ago. I don't need to worry about fighting you or anybody. At least now yet. Not until somebody comes knocking at my door looking for a fight they really, really don't want. We've seldom seen our Democracy work correctly by whatever made up definition the well off and well-to-do ruling class told us to abide by and adhere to.

Anyhow

My error? That's cute. Did it ever occur to you that maybe, just maybe, I really don't give a damn in the grand scheme of things and I am just paying you lip service while simultaneously giving you a low-brow narrative to keep your panties in a bunch?

Back to the point of the thread.  We've answered two questions, here are two more:

Yes. Indeed.

2) what was their goal? Their immediate goal was to find and arrest Mike Pence.  Which is why they chanted  "Where's Mike Pence?" Their broader goal was to help Trump remain in office, to prevent Biden from gaining office.

Obviously. I didn't hear that. I genuinely heard "Where's My Pants?". The violence was too loud.

Thanks for clarifying.

3) who gave them the idea to gather that day and try to break in and capture people?

The Media. The same media that just said there would be a Bloodbath. And Trump. Obviously, Trump.

4) many people, police officers, told them to stop.  They did not listen.  Then finally someone told them to stop that they did listen to.  Who was that?

Obviously, Odin.

So Grandpa, you came up in the days before the civil war when we could still vote for who we wanted to vote for.  Did you see the end coming?
Oh yes, grandson, yes I did.
What did you do about it?
I sat back and laughed at the folks trying to warn me about where it was all heading.
Why?
Well buddy, I was comfortable in my job.  I figured I'd be fine either way. I figured a few long guns would keep me safe, but they ended up being pretty much irrelevant against drone swarms.
What was your job?
Managing freight trains.
The railroad still worked back then?
Oh yes, all the way to Atlanta and on to Charlotte.
And the horde wouldn't capture them on the way?  They wouldn't be stopped at the border?
Oh no, buddy, there was no horde.  And no borders.
I can't imagine, grandpa.

LOL.  Can't handle the heat of a single and fairly simple question?

Sorry, but there were hundreds of people present.  Without additional information to identify "them" (which you are either unable or unwilling to provide) it is unknown to which persons you refer, making an answer to your question impossible.  Sorry to bring your thread to an abrupt halt at question #2.  Try thinking it through in greater depth next time.

Based on the men in this image? I would think they were trying to either help speed up their process to Valhalla to drink mead and java with Loki and Odin and Thor.

Or, they were doing it for Phil Robertson from Duck Dynasty.

Good call.  I was fairly certain they weren't invitees to the Council of Elrond.

It was a direct statement, not an implication, only one of us is afraid of the truth.  Note that it is impossible for any of us to truly know the motives of any of these individuals, absent direct statements from them.  We can only surmise based upon their actions and comments, and this is true for you with regards to Trump as well.  I suspect for many the "motive" was multifaceted but go ahead.

If we go to a Jaguars game, and a bunch of people in our section are all wearing Jaguars gear, and I asked you, "what do you think these people want?" would you say, "gosh, who really knows the motives of others anyhow?"

I am cynical by nature, so, no telling. Could be in a section filled with a bunch of Benedict Arnold's for all I know. They could even be Chinese spies speaking in British accents with the Spanish language.

People snap, man. One minute, you wake up, you roll over, you squeeze your wife's butt before getting up to go to work and then "Boom" Paul in Finance is having a bad day and decides he's going to take it out on everybody by playing spray and pray with a gun he just recently bought.

The funny part, this is the best part, now that I think about it, how many alphabet soup agencies have been called out for having said agents dressed up in uniforms they shouldn't be in, to, you know? Paint a distinct narrative or rile up the masses?

They were maybe Trump supporters who maybe wanted Trump to remain in office.

They could have also been maybe CIA or FBI agents planted amongst the protesters to push a specific narrative.

Telling you man, inserection, not insurrection, you should check that store out some time. They got all kinds of cool stuff.

This is everything that is wrong with how you think.

There is no guarantee everyone there were Trump supporters. I'm 100% sure there were folks who showed up just to be there, to see what was happening or going to happen. Some were probably in town and wanted to sight see and got caught up in the whole thing. Some of us are actually just curious. No motives, no allegiances, just curious.

Not everyone at a game gives a rat's rear end about who wins, they're just there to be seen.
