The Jags have only drafted three other wr in the first round not counting matt jone position switch. Reggie williams , RJ Soward, and Justin Blackmon. None of whom were worth a squat. Blackmon had the goods but could not stay off the sauce.
I think Thomas can be the exception. Time will tell but it looks like he can be legit. We need it.

Blackmon was talented, probably moreso than BTjr. He was just tormented.

Yep. Blackmon was tormented by Bourbon and Bacon. That's all he seems to live off of. It's also amazing how much he's let himself go. He looks like an overweight Reggae singer with his dreads now.

I wonder how that plays in Stillwater?

By the time 2029 gets here, JJ's contract will look like peanuts on a [BLEEP] commercial airliner. Probably looking at $185M - $200M deals for players of that caliber five years from now.
Thomas Jr. is going to be pretty good. I don't know about Justin Jefferson good, but, hopefully he's in the conversation of being top five - ten for many years to come. I think his ceiling is DaVante Adams (Not the slow developing Adams, I am talking prime Adams) and his floor is Terry McLaurin.

Really good break down on why Ridley was a bad fit for us and was misused as we had Kirk and Engram off the ball. Makes sense why we signed Gabe and drafted BTJ. Better fits. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MB4L0jFw7P4

Let's not get it twisted, Ridley was an outstanding talent and I don't think BTJ is necessarily a huge upgrade from that standpoint (although maybe he is a bit, we'll have to see). But with that said, there was a lot of noise about Ridley not necessarily having the playbook down the way a veteran should. He also had a little bit of a diva attitude to him in interviews. I think BTJ will probably be major upgrades in those two areas. He's a rookie though so he's probably not going to knock our socks off right out of the gates, but I have a lot of optimism for the kind of player he could be. Gabe and Kirk should get him on the right page from the get go.

BTJ is going to be great. Just wait. By week 9. A lot of y'all gonna be happy as hell we drafted him.

Fastest and tallest receiver on the squad should equal a lot of opportunities, perhaps more than any other receiver on the roster by season's end.

And he'll be lucky to make the practice squad.

Yes, we will be on pins and [BLEEP] needles wondering which of those two will get significant snaps in this offense come September.
What a mystery!

Sorry that I corrected your friend that was wrong about Thomas being the tallest WR on the roster right now. No one ever said Cooks will get more snaps this season than Thomas.
Have a nice day!

He'll have to make the squad for me to be corrected. Even if he makes the squad, he'll need to be active on game day. Even if he's active on game day, Thomas should still be the tallest target on the field 95% of the time and that's probably a conservative estimate barring significant injury.

We can agree that Thomas will most likely be the tallest WR on the grass most of the time this season.

By making the squad I mean making the 53 man roster. He's currently rostered because teams aren't required to pare down their roster yet. Whether he was on the 53 last year has no bearing on my original comment. There's no legacy spots held for guys on the 53 because they were on it the year before, especially for guys that have virtually no dead cap like Cooks. He'll very likely be on the bubble. We'll likely carry 6 or 7 receivers. Locks are Kirk, Thomas, Davis, Duvernay and I believe Parker Washington is probably a lock as well based on contributions made at the end of last year and positive comments I've heard regarding him from mini-camp. That's 5 right there. I'm not saying he won't make it, he's probably one of the favorites, but he'll be battling with Tim Jones and 5 other guys currently on the roster including Josh Cephus which some are high on for 1 or maybe 2 available spots. I wouldn't count him as being on the roster for 2024 just yet.
