Ridley at that contract or BTJ for 4 years or more at his?

Easy choice.

Easy choice, It's BTJ and I really like Rid. Great player, away from the game for a good while and learning a new system. He left plays on the field, but made plenty of plays as well. Good for him on getting the $$$.

BTJ and Davis give us what we didn't have last year. Kirk and Engram work inside, but after Zay went down the outside threat was gone.
I think Thomas jr. gives us more what Trevor has needed/lacked in a true downfield playmaker. Ridley is more of a fancy possession receiver at this point. He never made a big play when it mattered and the game was on the line. I think Thomas Jr. is going to be a huge weapon for us.

Ridley is a fantastic WR, but he just mentally checked out during the last half of the season. The whole team went into face plant mode.

Ridley cost us some games, especially earlier on. Can make a very, very STRONG argument, that, the outcome of the week two and three losses at home to the Chiefs and Tinhorns potentially goes the other way if he doesn't [BLEEP] drop some massive catches. He dropped a great pass inside the ten yard line and another crucial 3rd and long conversion inside the 20 at some point in both of those games.

He's not worth the high investment the tacks gave him. I think Thomas Jr. offers more speed, more big play ability and better 50/50 opportunities than Ridley does in the long run and I think Lawrence will find him more often than not once the offense starts gelling. My hope is that, we already know what we have in Kirk and Engram.

Those are going to be Trevor's clutch, early tone setters in the passing game. It's when guys like Davis and Thomas start working the outside where the offense has the potential to absolutely sky rocket though. Once those two guys start stretching the field deep? It's party on. There should be opportunities for guys like Strange, Bigsby, Etienne and Washington to work the middle of the field and the short to mid passing game with the main four tying up the majority of the looks.
It has been a while since we've had a franchise WR. The influx of free agent band-aids since Doug got here has to slow down, time to get a super star of our own.
We have one if not two on the roster (Thomas jr and Kirk).
Looked like Ridley didn't know what he was doing, pattern he was supposed to be running, 1/2 the time.
Tough for a rookie receiver to step in and be the number 1 guy.

Having high expectations for him this season will only lead to some calling him a bust.

Give him time to develop into a top receiver and he will get there. It may be in year 2 or 3 before he gives the Jags #1 WR production.
The good thing is that he is a true X receiver. Kirk is still our best receiver. We haven’t had a quality X in a while.

The best vertical threat in college and one of the best in the NFL.  The most important thing now is for the oline to block decent at the very least and get the run game going to get those safties to start cheating and get closer to the line of scrimmage.  If we can run the the ball effectively the play action could be deadly.

I think he will be an upgrade in the vertical passing game day 1 but I don't think he will match Ridleys overall numbers in his first year. I do think he will by year 2 though.
I’m not particularly concerned with his individual numbers first year. As long as the offense opens up and the overall numbers grow, it’s an immediate win.

Ridley’s first game as a Jaguar was pretty good.
I see a couple guys saying it will be tough for Thomas to come in and be a number 1, but make no mistake about it, Christian Kirk is the WR1 for the Jaguars. Kirk has been productive since day 1 and his contract speaks for itself.

Forcing Ridley into X because the Jags didn't have anyone else was the biggest issue. Then they tried to force the ball to him instead of taking the open WRs.

I think the numbers won't be great the 1st year. He has speed but will be facing press coverage that hurt Ridley. He's not the route runner that Ridkey was, though if you can't get off the line route running didn't help Ridley. He also isn't experienced and had 1 splash season where he mostly feasted on lesser teams and disappeared against better teams. Hopefully the size and speed are good enough to make him productive while he learns. If not, he is another wasted 1st round pick on potential but not consistent results.

Like any new player with a high ceiling coming into the league, Thomas is going to look like a star in his first few games. Then, opposing teams will have game film. It’ll be the typical up and down season for a rookie.

I have a feeling Thomas' 18th game as a Jag will be better than Ridley's 18th, though. That alone makes me say he certainly will be an upgrade.

I'd venture that much like KC, Engram is our 1. Look to where Trevor goes on those must-have plays.

Hey good point. Engram’s career took off and has blossomed with Lawrence.

Pedersen using in a scheme to more suits his strengths and Engram working on himself to stay healthier during the season were just as big of reasons for the career resurgence.

While there's some truth to that, there's a reason why Engram had a career year with Lawrence.

Zay Jones had a career year with Lawrence.

Kirk had a career year with Lawrence.

Wouldn't be surprised if Gabe Davis has a career year with Lawrence.

It's more than just a coincidence at this point. Lawrence absolutely elevates the players around him.
