So I assume Patrick Mahomes isn't playing next week since he's playing today (using Doug P's logic).

Lol...he just threw a behind the back pass.
whats the cheapest way my dad and i can watch the game tonight since we are in a out of market area please?

It's philosophy on 'joint practices'.

Chiefs normally don't do real full energy joint practices, so they go hard with starters against the other team in every preseason game.

Teams that do joint practices where the starters go hard against the other team, often sit the starters for the associated game.

Part of it though is also if you think each side of your team is solid enough to challenge the other. Like the Chiefs have the best QB and a top 5 defense, so that will make both sides of the team better. Plus both coaches and systems have been in place for years. So installs are easier and you are quickly getting to wrinkles and nuances. That can be harder with a true joint practices.

Jags though had middling offense last year with poor off line play and lots of questions with the new defense system. It could be hard to judge your team, scheme, etc without say a different guage/barometer for the practice reps.

Good breakdown of the thought process.

Makes sense.

I'd feel better though, if the second joint practice had been in pads.
(08-17-2024, 03:23 PM)AnOldBrownie Wrote: [ -> ]Update...after watching some of the week 1 game again, Trevis Gibson (who I think will be important throughout the season) and Cam Little.    I want to see if Cam can place his kickoffs way better than he did last week.    I expect Cam to get good at field goals.  We need him good at placing the kicks and kicking the ball out the back of the endzone.

Otherwise...might as well have a positional player that can kick and tackle play on the kickoffs and have Cam on the sideline.

It would also be nice to see Walker Little have a good game at RT.

Unlike most, I expect Cam Robinson to be gone next season, Anton to be our LT and it'd be nice if Walker could be our RT for the next 3-4 seasons.  No, I don't think the rookie tackle will be better than Walker Little next season.  Not at all.  So hopefully Walker gets a lot of reps this game.

Walker Little should start at left tackle tonight, Cole Van Lanen will likely be the right. Foster will likely be the right tackle next year though too soon for the start tonight.

Most people expect Cam Robinson to be gone next year, this is the last year of his deal so he's Unrestricted after the season.

Cooke will be the kickoff guy during the season, he's All Pro at it.
Uhm....why is Trevor wearing a helmet if he's not playing tonight? When CJ Stroud didn't play in their first game he wasn't even in uniform.

Sorry wolf, that looks like it’s only on the local cbs feed.
Big Roy is the most pedestrian "guaranteed" player I have ever seen.
Good to see Jefferson out there
Edmunds needs to be on the 53.

Agreed.

He's a tone-setter in the back half of the defense.

I think things are trending that way and why he's out there to start this game.

I missed that third down stop, what happened? Incomplete?
Parker Washington playing like Christian Kirk.

I like it.
