This team doesn't know how to win and close out games. The Texans played one of their worst games with a ton of penalties and a muffed punt and they still won. Good teams overcome adversity. This is not a good team. We were lied to by Khan.
I think it’s far more likely he had an inkling about potential internal strife and was stating his expectations publicly as a shot across the bow at whoever needed to hear it. (i.e. playoffs or you’re fired) Whether that’s Doug and co. or some bad locker room guys remains to be seen. I’ll wait for it to unfold. This weekend’s game should be telling if we lose again.

That's because it hasn't been well coached since 2022.
I don't know what happened in that off season. But Cooter left to be the OC in Indy. And since then the whole thing has gone sideways. We fired our DC and his coaching staff. And we kept the OC and his coaching staff.
This. Seems we have found out who the locomotive was and who was the caboose. Hint. Press is the caboose.
Bruce Arians - Byron Leftwich
Doug Pederson -Press Taylor.
Issue is Press doesn't have Brady to change the plays for him. In fact I hope TL begins to take things into his own hands...

I will assume it's both.
Frankly, I will assume the players, just like us, are divided in who to blame whether Trevor, Doug or whatnot.

You need to listen to Doug's comments. It wasn't that he said the players need to play better, it was that he said there was nothing wrong with the play calls from Press. He said he thought Press did a great job.
He didn't even directly call out the players but it was the undertone of the statements. He also said it was stupid to question his job security.
Doug is normally bland in the interviews but has been increasingly angry about any questions of the offense and OC. He really is going to get himself fired to protect his "son" Press. This X account isn't a random person, so unless everyone reporting it is using the same random poster as the source, there is definitely smoke and some cracks and pops coming from the wood.

Players are soft. Feels like 2018 all over again with Coughlin.
"Ohhh noooo I have to be accountable while making hundreds of thousands of dollars per paycheck?".

Nahhh.
If it bleeds it leads. Where there's smoke there is fire, if you build it, they will come, etc.
It is what it is. When your team is knocking at the door of an 0 - 10 losing streak after starting 8 - 3 last year people want to blame everybody.
The truth is in the middle. It's not Doug losing the locker room. It's the collective losing themselves amongst themselves within that entire front building.
Plenty of blame to go around. It amazes me that we're seeing that narrative though. People act like they have been getting blown out by 30+ points in every loss.
They haven't. It all gets put to rest this Sunday at home when they beat the clots by 10+.

I’ll take “Most obvious news in the NFL” for $1000 Alex
This has been obvious for weeks. Anyone not realizing that is just clinging to hope that doesn’t exist.

You think the team didn't play hard last week? I've seen teams loaf, and that isn't what it looks like.

Agreed, I am sure in this funk it's hard to rah-rah and think positive, but ultimately that's what coach has to do.
Like us, I imagine the players are looking for results more than words. Proof is in the pudding, right? We get a few dubs under the belt and don't look completely clueless in big moments and suddenly everyone is best friends again.

DING DING DING
Does anyone REALLY expect the locker room to be cheery and upbeat when you're 0-4 and keep blasting away at your own feet week to week? Come the heck on already.

Imagine the posting here if that were the case, lol. Just like with the play calling, whatever it is, if it didn't work then it was WRONG!!!!!!!!!

I think they played as hard as their personal pride but no honestly, after getting thoroughly embarrassed Monday I kind of expected a little more fire out of everyone to try to correct that. Everyone is regressing, and most often in those scenarios, it’s coaching.
And then Doug coming out and immediately throwing the team under the bus is a bad look. Whether true or not, that’s not the right play. And then saying “if you have something to say then say it, I can take it” and immediately storming off the podium with an eye roll when they do call him out doesn’t help.
Even if it’s not the play calling. SOMETHING is internally wrong, and that is a coaching issue

In and of itself, telling players to be accountable isn’t a bad thing. Telling them that while not holding your OC accountable is hypocritical and will definitely lose the locker room. Here we are.

Meh. Other than the back alley mugging they took in Buffalo? They have been playing close enough to keep the games competitive in the other three losses.
Not buying this narrative just yet. I will say, however, Cam Robinson has mailed it in for the most part in my opinion. Ever since he was handed his inflated contract extension, he's been sloppy.
I posted a video on here last year or the year prior where Uche Nwaneri (RIP big fella) completely demolished him critiquing wise on his channel for bad hand placement pre snap and even more piss poor effort and footwork post snap.
He has not changed one bit from that critique much.

I think this has been shored up to some extent. T-Wigg broke it down fairly in my opinion. Doug holding Press accountable openly is the same as holding himself accountable. Since he has his fingerprints on this offense and a pulse on it.
He's not going to go skin deep publicly on this issue, he'll however, as he's done since the opening loss to start this season. Continue to say that the coaching staff, as a collective, needs to do better as well.
Again, though, for me? As of late? The coaching staff seems to be doing the right things while the players are failing them. Etienne's fumble. Lawrence's 2 blown TD passes. De'Ernest Johnson's illegal shift. That was 28 points in total lost in three closely contested football games.
And that's your difference there. I am actually siding with Doug on this one. [BLEEP] these players. Especially the guys that got paid fat loot this off season. Campbell's the only one getting a pass due to injury. Lawrence? Hines-Allen? Kirk? Robinson? Davis? These guys need to step it the [BLEEP] up.
Engram too when he gets back.
Damn. Donovin Darius basically called Doug and his coaching staff Beta's and that they probably don't have any Alpha's on the coaching staff. Some players won't respond to that.
Nielsen comes off as an Alpha. Former DT, asks for "Violence" when his guys are playing or practicing. I still think the defense after four weeks is clearly the better unit and strength of this team.
I don't know man, this is a weird one. I know Urban Meyer was an Alpha with big time Beta results and, apart of Doug's mantra was healing in 2023 from the damage done in 2022.
Need to have some balance in the building it feels like psychology wise.
Well... I am for hire on gamedays. Give me $500 and I'll yell at everybody like Gordon Ramsay and then try and be a Monty Python montage for some of the other players. They need a Sigma on the staff.
I am that guy. Let Shad know man. I can fix this [BLEEP] team in one week!

I think the concern is simply human nature. The team got blown out by the Bills, then the team rededicated themselves to set things right for the Houston game but still came up short. That fire to come back and rededicate isn't limitless, and losing tends to lead to finger pointing. I think when you look at Doug's press conferences he's starting to feel that his message isn't getting through, but throwing your team under the bus simply hastens the process. It's one thing to tell your players to be accountable in the locker room, telling them that in a press conference is a whole other ball of wax.

What most don't seem to get is that the OC is DOING WHAT HE WANTS! I don't understand why people think Pederson is going to be outraged at Taylor for calling Doug's offense the way Doug wants it called. And the play calling continually puts these guys in the position to make pretty basic plays for NFL players, and they keep blowing it! Fumbling at the goal line, letting the QB get crushed by back up defenders, spinning out instead of stepping up, catching the ball and falling down when there's no defender within 5 yards, overthrowing wide open receivers, having the ball bounce off the hands or face mask in the end zone...these aren't play calling problems. If they do those things like pro players everywhere else seem able to then no one is [BLEEP] about the play calls because they've got 3 easy and convincing wins instead of 3 close losses.
