Mac has always been destined to be a perennial backup player.
I just wish Trevor would play so damn good - and consistently - where there was ZERO doubt about his perceived talent.
Agreed he needs to polish consistency.
But at least we attempt those 3rd and longs with him in there.
But in the end winning this game is a terrible let outcome

It's clear the play calling is geared to ball control and short yardage, Jones doesn't have a starter's arm talent.

It was ALWAYS there.
The putrid offense couldn't help them out with maintaining a sustained drive, let alone a first down until the 3rd quarter of most games.
There has been multiple games this season whwre we have lost in the dying seconds
defence usually melts then
What we see, once again, is that this line cannot run or pass block well enough to carry the offense where it needs to go. Long yardage, short yardage...immaterial, they simply cannot power their way to keep the chains moving.

I'm pretty sure other teams were maintaining time of possession in the 1st and 2nd quarters all season, which would mean the defense getting tired in the 2nd half doesn't hold up with your theory.
Even in this game, TOP for Vikings is 18 minutes. The Vikings just set a season-long possession in number of plays and TOP because they were able to convert 5/7 3rd downs.
If not for a gift TO from the refs, it would be 7-6 Jags or 10-7 Vikings.
The o line is inconsistent. They have moments where they look ok. But then they have moments kill drives.
At least the coaching is consistent... you know what you're gonna get from them

Mac doesn't have elite arm strength but it's good enough.

I agree, he's definitely good enough to be a back up.

More important question is can Mac Jones throw the ball far enough for BTJ?
He doesn't have to throw a 50 yard bomb. Get him on a crosser, slant, anything just to get him going.
Why is Darby out there?

Perfectly fine play calls that the players [BLEEP] up?
Yep.

If the other team maintains time of possession over us - just following proper logic would lead us to conclude that our defense WOULD get tired later in the game.
But, I'm not going to harp on that point and remain there.
The offense was ALWAYS the issue plain and simple. They couldn't score, maintain a sustained drive or even get a first down until we torched our first 5 offensive possessions.

Knowing the defense would tire later on in the game would mean they should rotate, right? For some reason fans are arguing about why Nielsen rotates d-line.
I do notice that you dip [BLEEP] have dropped the "Pederson lost the locker room" stuff in light of another week of very strong effort.

And my point is the defense was playing this poorly in prior 1st half and even has been poor in this 1st half.
Sure getting tired may have worsened their performance in the 2nd halfs, but it is not the whole story and doesn't explain poor 1st half performances.
It is only part of the puzzle. You're argument ignores that there are other issues with the defense.

Yes.
However, I will push back slightly and say that on "pressure" downs, like 3rd down, is where I'd like to see my "best" players on the field (even if they suck more than the opponents we are playing).
ANOTHER PICK!!!!!!!!!!!!!
