Looking for a reason to shame Stroud.

3 figures? $599 seems like a pretty low salary.

He must work seasonal during the week of Christmas.

I'm just trying to get to know my boy, Stroud.

Three figures can be pretty sweet.

But only if those figures are

Hey yooo!!!
Quote:Trump's policies and positions trump Hillary's by a mile. If all it takes is a teleprompter to get minorities, women, and the college educated to listen to him speak and understand his message, then I take Trump in a landslide and hope he keeps it up.

Then...a friendly wager it is?

Add the three trailing zeros along with .00 after it.

What I'm getting at is how TAM was pinging on Stroud basically doubting his claimed income taxes.  Age, occupation and whether or not someone has a family has nothing to do with it.  Somebody could be in a top income tax bracket and have the job of a FedEx delivery driver.

The FedEx driver that I was talking about happened to come into our office to deliver a package during one of the elections when the topic was raising taxes on those making more than (I think it was) $250,000.00.  We were talking about it with our office liberal, and the FedEx driver made a comment that it would affect him.  Of course, the office liberal was condescending like most liberals and said something to the effect that "this tax raise can no way affect you".  The FedEx driver turned around and informed our resident liberal that he owned not only the truck that he drove, but 4 others as well.  He employed the drivers as well as a small office staff.  In other words, a small business in this case a franchisee.  All of the income as well as all of the expenditures that he had was reported on his personal tax return.

I'll never forget it.  Our office liberal was dumbfounded.

Liberals seem to think that people get/are wealthy because it was either "given" to them or it was obtained through some kind of fraudulent means.  This is an example of a young man that probably had to invest a significant amount of money to get started, and still goes out and works hard every day.  I would estimate that the guy was probably in his 30's maybe young 40's.  I doubt that he lives in a mansion and gets drove around by a driver in a limousine, but the guy probably has a pretty good nest egg and a business that he can pass on to his children that can be lucrative through hard work.

My point is, liberals tend to judge people by their titles, occupation, race, etc. without knowing all of the facts.  They seem to think that "taxes on the rich" only applies to the "fat cats" on Wall Street.  They fail to realize that many small business owners, based on their tax return might be considered "the rich".  I suspect TAM was probably going at Stroud to try to debunk what he said about tax savings.

I personally don't care about what people earn myself, and I certainly think that government needs to keep their hands off of those earnings as much as possible.

Sure. If Trump wins, I choose what avatar you have for a year. If Hillary wins, you choose what avatar I have for a year. Has to be within community regs, of course.
Quote:Zero substance whatsoever in any of those plans. Fact is there has never been a less qualified individual to run for President. Thank goodness America won't be fooled.

You must have missed the last 8 years.  We already suffered through that.
I don't know as many liberals as I do conservatives, but my guess is none of them would guess the FedEx guy delivering their package owned the franchise.

And jib, you're the first person I've ever known to refer to someone earning over half a million as earning three figures.

Deal. Handshake.

Any others want to get in on this? Or are you not confident enough to put your avatar where your posts are?

Let's get a couple more .....
@JIB you need to calm down.

Not everything is an attack. A week or two ago Stroud asked me about myself. I responded to him.

I wanted to know about his back ground. He responded to me.

You really try to find the worst in anything a liberal says. It's sad. You should try to find common ground with people sometimes. Just a suggestion.

LOL.  I edited my initial post.  I was thinking to the left of the , when thinking about numbers.  As someone that knows about coding you should understand...  it's mundane details.

To paraphrase one of my favorite movies, Ferris Bueller's Day Off:

It made you look like a fool, is what it, Ed.

No disrespect, just found out funny.

I don't try to find the worst in what liberals say, but when they something that is wrong I do call them out on it.  I called you out recently in a thread when you made a clearly racist/bigoted comment, and your response was pretty much the usual liberal response, simply deflect with your "triggered" nonsense towards me.  I'm kind of bored and tired of that kind of argument that's why I didn't bother to respond.

I have a bit of common ground with some of the libs on this board and one of them used to be you, but you've "gone off the deep end" lately.  I can have discussions with many of them without getting personal.  Heck, even our resident liberal moderator/admin (RJ) and I have had reasonable dialog both publicly and privately.  You on the other hand have gone WAY left and don't post anything near rational anymore.

I owned up to it and admitted it.  What about you?

Coming from the guy that spent the last four months or so creating anti pc threads and making blanket statements about all liberals, I'm not sure I buy any of your recently found sensibilities.

As for this thread, your analysis of why I asked Stroud what I did was typically off base. You tried to stereotype me as one of those liberals that you hate so much.

Sorry to disappoint you. But I'm more nuanced than that.

Hopefully we can get back to a mutually respectful place. Let's start by at least first not assuming the worst about each others' motivations.

Next, how bout we both stop labeling each other when discussing topics. No more, "you liberals" or "snow flake" or "you conned-servatives" , etc.

We should just talk to each other as unique individuals.

That's my suggestion, I'd hope you could see the benefit of changing how we discuss things between each other. Maybe it's time to start fixing that.

And here I always took you for a crotchety old IT guy who wouldn't let his company upgrade from DOS because "this Windows thing is just a fad".
